Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

My friend asked Abbey for copies of statements going back 6 years enclosing the £10 fee. They ignored his letters. So he estimated the charges at 5k. Started letter writing etc. Filed court papers. Still no copies of statements. Eventually settled for 4.5k. Then about 2 weeks later out of the blue got the copies of statements added up what was actually charged and it came to barely 1k!!!! Obviously departments within Abbey are not talking to each other.0

I don't have a full list of charges & statements, and want to know how i can get them without paying the bank anymore money.
I've heard that i could get them for free by using the Data Protection Act and want to know if anyone knows how to do it?0 -

Halifax
Amount Requested 432 pounds
Amount Received 500 pounds
Claimed for 432 and they offered 300 as goodwill gesture, refused and told them i would accept their offer towards full amount and that if they didnt i was taking them to court and that i was now claiming the interest and wanted 517 pounds. Recvd letter today saying i had to accept or reject their 300 pound offer so i rang and told them i rejected it to which they upped the offer to 500 quid. I am quite happy with this outcome, providing welcome pennies for xmas

I watched the prog on Tues. There didn`t seem to be mention of other types of overcharging. I have a store card from Argos. I intended to set up a Direct debit, but overlooked it, so missed the due date for a payment on 2 occasions. I have been hit with £17.50 on 2 occasions = £35.00 My outstanding balance was only £48. The minimum payment was only £2.
Has anyone any experience of claiming back these types of penalties? I have tried on the phone but been knocked back.0 -
Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £592
Amount they paid: £592
The story:
Sent them a prelim letter and a letter before action, got an offer for £392, rejected this & filed a moneyclaimonline, they then requested 28 days to file a defence, but on the evening of the day i received the letter they were going to do that all the money appeared in my account!0 -
I am going through my old credit card statements and have noticed that on three times in 01 I had "unpaid cheque 20.00". Is that claimable or not. Much appreciated.0

Under the Data Protection Act the bank is entitled to charge up to £10 for the information you request. Quite a few bansk are now waiving this, but you won't know until you put the disclosure request in.0 -
