Hairy Hog (great name btw!) I am currently waiting for first direct to repay me my charges – I received a standard letter stating they were sorry I had a complaint etc blah blah and would be in touch within 10 days – did you receive a similar letter? How long did the claim take?? Sorry to be nosey!
  • Does anyone have any wording that I can put on the allocation questionaire in the G Section for Other Information? Also, is there a template letter for refrusing a partial claim once they are aware of the court action?

I got 2 letters back from Natwest today; from 2 different people, one response for each of my accounts I have made a claim for; what a suprise the content of the letter was identical.

Does this mean that they are now getting so many letters about requests for refunded charges that they have set up a standard letter......:j

They have promised to be in contact with me again by the 29th Dec with either a full response or a further update.

Is this normal... does this look hopeful, I know Natwest are not good at paying out.

I received the 10 day letter on the 7th December and the letter with the offer arrived today dated the 11th December. Hope that helps
  • Hi all
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to claim back charges for the six years even if I have closed the bank account down of my own accord nearly a year ago.
    thanks mpw

yes you can - i am claiming from first direct and I left them about 3 years ago... if anything it is better to not be with the bank as you haven't got the worry that they will close your account!
  • Thanks newcook

I wrote to Citibank using your template letter to claim £50 plus interest. I posted it first class on a Friday and the money popped into my account on the following Monday. They did not pay the interest but I was impressed with the speed. They sent a letter saying that it did not set a precedent and was a gesture of goodwill.
I am very happy with this result.
