    Bank: Halifax
Account 1)Amount Claimed: £4591.05 (that includes interest for 2 yrs!)
    Amount Offered: £4000.00

Account 2)Amount Claimed: £6513.69 (that includes interest for 6 yrs!)
    Amount Offered: £5550.00

:j Money all paid into both accounts now.. 6 yrs of charges!!! We've been through so much hardship you cannot imagine. I remember days when over 117.00 were taken at one time and mortgage payments couldn't be made. The struggle to continuously put money we didn't have back into accounts to cover this was horrible. The stress gave my husband two panic attacks.

Well thanks Halifax, we're going on a well earned holiday and putting the house in the 21st century!.. but more to the point.. thank you Martin! :money: x
We will win this! we will!.... and we did! :j :p

    Bank: GE Money (store card)
    AMount claimed: £115
    Amount paid: £246! :-)

Sent first letter requesting charges. Didnt reply within 40 days, so sent reminder. In the meantime details of charges had been sent so I send off letter claiming £115 on 21st April. Received letter today advising that they were right to charge me, however, £246 had been credited to my account and they would like to remind me that my payment is overdue! :-\
Thank you to all. I have really delayed in dealing with this, but now Im on fire..

    Bank: First Direct
Amount Reclaimed: £1539 (over two accounts)
    Amount They Paid: £1157

Very easy using templates on MSE. Sent my £10.00 cheque back for getting bank statements then took prob 6 weeks all together. Although not paid in full, I feel that I should take some of the responsibility as I was a very bad customer, and I am more than happy to recieve £1157 of money I considered gone forever. Will just add that have not been First Direct customers for 18 months so didn't have to risk threat of account closure etc. Thank you very much MSE.
  • Thanks for the advice. The day Nat West received the County Court Summons, they repaid over £3000 of charges.
Thanks for the advice. Well worth the effort:rotfl:

    Halifax
Amount Claimed £10,974 (Including £250 Court fee)
    Amount paid £10,974

Allready had all of statements (6 Yrs worth) so wrote (using Martins template and spreadsheet) to ask for the money. Received reply saying thank you for our complaint and informing us that they legally have something like 40 days to investigate and respond. I did not accept this response and went straight to Money claim online. Within one week they acknowledged service of the claim and two and a half weeks later I received a letter informing me that (without admission) the full amount was to be paid into our accounts because it would cost them money to defend it in court and they would not be able to claim this back even if they won because it was through the small claims court.
As Martin would say Claim Claim Claim
and To Martin a great big Thank You for your tireless work to advise people like ourselves  and a big sloppy Kiss!!!!!

  • BANK ABBEY
CLAIMED 3170 Including interest and court fees
    SETTLED 3000

Went through the whole process, first of all tried to fob me off with £600 which they just paid into my account, then at allocation questionaire stage offered me a further £600, rejected that. Then at stage when hearing date was issued called me on he phone and offered me a further £1500. I rejected that and told them I would accept £3000 in total and full settlement as a i was willing to take a punt on the OFT not completeing their investigation by the hearing date. The girl on the phone said she could not authorise that so she went away. Phoned back 2 hours later and made the full offer of £3000 in total. Cheers Shabbey
  • Bank HSBC / First Direct

    Claimed £471 - with interest
    Settled £405 - without interest

The template letters on the site are excellent. I sent my first letter and £10 cheque to HSBC / First Direct - they wrote to me advising me they would send me my statements they did not even cash the £10 cheque it was returned with the letter. The statements arrived and I sent the 2nd letter. A few days later a letter arrived from HSBC / First Direct offering to settle without the interest @ £405. I did think about chasing the interest as well, but as the account was never in credit I think it would be unfair.

The best news is for 2 first class stamps (54p) and typing 2 letters, HSBC / First Direct will be sending me a cheque for £405

    Thanks Money Saving Expert

I followed my brothers advice as he was approaching Abbey for his charges so far he is only at the statement stage and they seem more intent on dragging the whole thing out. I hope it all works out in his favour as well.
  • asked for my last 6yrs statements got my cheque back and a letter stating they would look into my complaint! i wrote back saying i hadnt complained about anything yet! 1 week later got several pages detailing all my charges( ment i didnt even have to work it out, or wade through statements!) was staggered and embarrassed that the charges came to 9201. sent off letter asking for the money back got a letter from the woolwich 18th march saying they would look in to it and respond by 18th april. got a letter from barclays 16th april offering me 7801 decided to accept as its nearly 8000 more than ive seen in my account ever in one go. was in my account on the 18th april. so now having been successful with natwest aswell in feb(see my entry 18/02/07) ive cleared my debts and for the first time in i dont no when going to have a holiday this year without worrying whether i can afford it when i get back.
my sincere thanks to all involved in this site for the inspiration in the first place and then the knowledge and support in the process. im now determined to turn over a new leaf and use this chance to start a debt free life and start having some savings and only spending what i can afford! to all those of you out there reading these threads for the first time have the guts to improve your life. in the meantime i might just see if theres any more accounts from the past i might claim back!!!
