Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £460
Amount they paid: £460
The story:
I used your letter templates to contact my bank about 2 months ago, i didn't hold out much hope as all the reclaimed amounts that i had heard about were for thousands and mine was just for a few hundred! Last month i recieved a letter stating that they were sorry to hear that i was unhappy with the services that i was recieving and that they would look into the matter. 2 weeks later i recieve a letter which stated "...we are not responcible .... and dont admit any wrong doing...but as a good will gesture we will credit your account with £460.00 within the next two weeks."
Great result. I recommend MSE to all my friends and family.0 -
Bank: Freemans catalogue (not sure if I should post this in this thread as it isn't a bank?)
Amount claimed: £33.88
Amount receivd: £12
I know it's small but it's my first victory! (I have a few much larger amounts which I have started the process on, using the template letters from this website). The others are not looking as easy as this one was, but it's probably all posturing so I'll carry on and hope they pay up.
Freemans repaid me only for the amounts exceeding £12 per charge, as recommended by the Office of Fair Trading. They argue that it applies to store cards anyway and not mail order. I assume if I really wanted I could argue against this but I'll accept this offer this time, as I was reclaiming on principle.0 -

:money: Bank: HSBC
Amount Claimed: £800 plus £47 interest and £80 court fee
Amount Recieved: £947!!- £20 more than claimed for!
It has taken months (started in around November), but finally a full offer from HSBC. Sent all letters, started MCOL claim, fully defended by HSBC so transferred to local court, partial offer recieved and rejected, letter from HSBC solicitor recieved, then letter from court saying my Particulars of claim weren't good enough, re submitted them on Tuesday and had full offer by Friday!!
I've been doing this on behalf of my brother, who knows nothing about it! He is taking his driving test in June and is disheartened because he won't be able to buy a car...my Mum and I will use his refunded bank charges to buy him one and surprise him, I can't wait!! Thanks to Martin for his article, and everyone on this board who has helped, I couldn't have done it without you!0 -
Hi, both my partner and I followed your instruction on reclaiming bank charges and both our banks paid out! My partners bank is The Royal Bank of Scotland and he got £914. My bank is the Halifax and they paid me the full amount of £1320, but not before offering me just £600. :j Both of us got to the stage of taking them to court before they paid out. We would like to say a big THANK YOU Martin for all your help. Our little family has benefited greatly from this money. Both our overdrafts have been paid off and we are planning a family holiday next year:T
Bank: The Royal Bank of Scotland - £914

I have just recieved £1,565 from Natwest. HOORAY! It took a while and a lot of letters misteriously lost in the post but in the end a nice lady called Beth phoned me up and agreed to pay in full.
I thought I was going to end up in court wiith them and I was really scared. My bank balance is now £1365 because I was overdrawn by £200 thanks to Natwest charges! I now have a nice new Halifax account and have told Natwest where to go!0 -
Used Martins system, had to send threatening letter 2 but they then paid up in full!
Just under £400 from Natwest, thank you very much!!

Bank: Capital One
Amount Claimed: £1069.64 includes interest & court costs of £80.00
Amount Recieved: £1069.64
Followed all procedures as shown on this wonderful website. Received letter from Cap 1 four days ago stating their usual our charges are fair & we are not going to give you your full charges back so take this puny amount we are offering. Kept letter as i knew the court date was up on the 30th for them to defend & knew i would be getting anther letter from them about saturday saying they didn't want to waste the courts time so heres all your charges back. Low & behold on yesterday received afore mentioned letter. Yeah!. Thanks once again to Edinburgh lass & co for all help & support. You deserve Queens awards for services to the public!0 -
