    Amount Reclaimed: £1805.00 & £2834.00 (Plus Interest)
    Amount they paid: £1543.00 & £2214.00

The story: Sent 1st letters (2 accounts so sent 2 letters each time) recorded delivery 1st March I received no response so sent the 2nd letter on the 16th of March saying that I would take them to court if I didn't get a response within 14 days. Got the usual letter on the 17th asking me to breakdown my charges (total time wasting tactic!) I done this and sent it back same day.

After the 14 days were up I rang before I took court action to find out what was happening was advised that I would hear from them before the 16th of May, normal 8 week wait.

I didn't really have the money to take them to court so just kept ringing and making my voice heard rang up on Wednesday 25th and was told that an offer had been set out to me and I should receive it in the next couple of days received it today normal format goodwill gesture, we would win if you took it to court blah blah blah.

Anyway they haven't agreed to pay the interest but I'm happy with the result I had requested some funds that I shouldn't have by mistake started the spreadsheet in Feb so included Feb 01 which were taken out my mistake.

Overall HSBC were very helpful only had one problem on one of my many phone calls I was advised that my breakdown hadn't been received I advised the lady that I would check the royal mail web site and see if my letter had been delivered which it had. When I rang back the man on the phone advised that it had been received and there were no problems. I would advised everybody to send there letters recorded delivery just encase.<O:p</O:p

  • I've spent the last three days worrying that I'd missed the deadline to get copies of my court bundle to the courts and a copy to barclays after spending every spare minute when I got home from work compiling the bundle correctly and in triplicate. I had infact missed my deadline by a day but the courts accepted it anyway (I had to sneak out of work to dash into town to the courts to hand it in on Friday morning then to the post office to send a copy to barclays). After all this running around I got home from work on Friday evening to find a letter from barclays offering to settle in full. Just over £1200
Keep at it guys and gals, the banks will buckle eventually.
They haven't as yet closed my account. I was hoping they would as it would give me the chance to tell them to stick their measly current account interest rate where the sun doesn't shine.:rotfl:

    Bank:Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed:£2218
    Amount they paid:£2218

The story: I sent my first letter requesting 6 years of statements on the 17th Febuary 2007, sent my 2nd letter requesting charges of £2218 - no reply so sent 3rd letter on 12th March advising that if I didn't receive a response in 14 days would apply to MCOL for the charges, still heard nothing. So on the 30th March 2007 I made my claim to MCOL but messed this up as I forgot to put my Bank details on the claim - DOH!! I then had to wait until I got my refund cheque so I could make my claim again which I tried to do last night but the MCOL site was down so I was going to try again this morning but found on my doorstep a letter from Natwest advising they would offer me £2218 to close the claim although they disputed that their charges were unlawful and sent me a nice booklet to explain charges!!! Anyhow I signed and accepted the offer and posted it back within an hour so just waiting for the cash to appear in my account. YAY - Thank you Martin x x

  • Claimed £2226.00 from the Halifax.
To be fair they have been really easy to deal with, they apologised and after dragging their feet a little they paid up. All in all took around 5 weeks.
