Bank: Nationwide
Amount claimed: £103.32 plus court fee £30
Amount paid so far: all, plus interest, except court fee
Story: small amount I know, but it annoyed me because on all three occasions I transferred funds in from e-savings on the same day so my paper statement never showed an overdraft.
One was a direct debit from nationwide current account to nationwide credit card and they BOTH charged me. The credit card people paid up full amount on first letter.
Current account people sent ever-so-sorry letter (and actually part of me agrees that I did sign up to their terms). I sent second letter (unconditional acceptance in 14 days or no further communication and County Court claim) and got another poor-you-we-are-so-sorry-try-the-ombudsman letter.
I opened an account at Alliance and Leicester - then did HMCS Money Claim Online. Heart sank when I got Acknowledgment of Service - Charles Bacon intending to defend all the claim. Was it worth it for £56?
THEN - 'credit by cash' into my account of £28.68 followed next day by 'correction' £35.15! It must be the bank - but how weird AND WHAT ABOUT THE £30 COURT FEE? Will I get that? Does anyone know, please? And are they supposed to write and tell you what they're up to?
A result, though and worth the hassle. Thanks Martin! :T0 -
You need to find out who made that payment. You are suing them for the full amount so they must pay it all to you or defend. There are template letters flying around on here about part payments (if indeed it is the bank).Littlewoods catalogue - won back charges of £300 by default.

Amount they paid: £1550
The story: After my LBA they sent an offer of £1000, I declined the offer and sent the rejection letter from the consurmer action website. i added in my own clause that i would accept 1550 in full and final settlement and they accepted! Not bad since my charges only amounted to 1230!0 -

Royal Bank of Scotland
Requested- £3027
Recieved-£3027
Charges applied over the last 5 years to two accounts. I was called to a review in August where I was offered a £3000 loan to pay off my overdraft. I suppose it was a lightbulb moment for me because I was sure I wasnt about to pay them interest as well as all the bank charges.
What my charges come to is almost exactly what I was overdrawn. Coincidence?? I think not.
It took four letters in total downloaded from forums and two of them were refusing low offers.
I am sooooooo Happy!!!!:T :T :TNew comp-a-holic!!:j

My husband was charged £50 by Abbey for going £8.18 overdrawn. I phoned up and explained that while I realised these were abbey's standard charges, they were punitive and I thought it was too much to charge for going £8 overdrawn. After checking to see if he could, he waived the whole £50!! I now have one relieved husband! Thank you!!! :beer:0

Hi All,
ADVICE URGENTLY NEEDED.
My mum has just been offered £490.00 towards her charges of £1000.00. She phoned the number provided (barlcays) to say she wasn't happy with amount offered and was transferred straight to answer phone. Left her name and was called back today. They say there not prepared to offer anything towards her loss. She asked why certain people were allowed to negotiate and not others. The lady said "different people have different needs". My mum asked would they put this in a letter (Discriminating against people) they said no. They said this is full and final and she can do whatever she wants she won't get anymore.
They also said this to me so i accepted a figure of £250.00 rather than £385.00.
Obvioulsy my mums is alot higher but she doesn't have a lot of money should she fight for the £1000.00. £490.00 is alot to her!! and with Court Charges etc i don't want to see her struggle for something she won't get.
Have any banks been to court yet?
PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks0 -
