  • Bank: Ulster Bank
    Amount Reclaimed:£2052.48
    Amount they paid:£2052.48
    The story:
After much deliberation and biting of finger nails, two letters, 2 hours on the PC, 2 1st class stamps and 1 small claims court application the bottlers declared that they thought I had no 'reasonable gounds or cause of action against the bank' but they were 'prepared to lodge to my account' 'the full value of your claim'.

Now I'm annoyed I didn't just welly on and get the Small claims application in earlier... Now for the A&L.

Still can't believe how easy it was and how the Banks tough it out knowing that they are acting illegally.

Why haven't the media picked up on this and given a it a higher profile?
  • My 1st contact was on 27th September, So, 40 days from start to finish and £4580 better off, not bad hey!

  • Bank: Alliance and Leicester
    Amount Reclaimed: £75
    Amount they paid: £75
The story: Sent letters as per Consumer Action Group, had to send both letters. After the first letter received £37.50 as a 'goodwill gesture'. Replied using the second letter and then received another 'goodwill gesture' of £37.50. so they actually paid back all charges - what a great result. Thank you for all your help!:rotfl: :rotfl:
  • Bank: ALLIANCE & LEICESTER
    Amount Reclaimed: £400.00
    Amount they paid: £400.00

Sent the normal first few letters as per this website and got the normal rejections, but before doing the claim online I thought I'd be cheeky and write direct to them just saying "after reading on a particular website I am now in the know, so can we please sort this out without going through the courts". And to my surprise they wrote back in a few days offering me £300, I wrote back saying no, and I would appreciate the full amount before proceeding. Today they wrote back saying they are still correct but they want to end this matter quickly so have offered the full amount. Good luck guys and no matter how down you feel when you get rejection letters, keep going it is worth it in the end!

Gave me initial refusal and the moment I went to Money Claim they sent me a letter with cheque, that of course, doesn't admit liability.

Going to do the same with NatWest now, but does anyone know the address to send it to??? Can't seem to find it, thanks.

Thanks Martin and ConsumerActionGroup site. Fantastic.

    Hi Paul, After refusing Natwests initial offer to refund me 1440 of 2230 i'm claiming, I was sent a letter by them telling me that they are sorry i wish to take court action blahblahblah but told me to send to their registered address which is;

    Natwest
    135 Bishopsgate
    London EC2M 3UR

(they acknowledged the claim on 18th Oct and have until this sunday to enter a defence or ive won .. fingers crossed!)

    Offered £805.00

I recieved letter from HSBC today offering me £805. I have decided to accept the offer as it seems reasonable to me.

I sent the first letter and heard nothing, sent the second letter and was due to start court procedings this weekend, but got the offer today.

well pleased, thanks everyone for the advice on here, and special thanks to Martin and Radio 2 where I heard about this.

You are very lucky I am claiming over £2,000 and they have offered me a refund of £150 which I said no thankyou and then they sent a letter telling me that they are correct and that I am not entitled to the full refund so now I am claiming on line
    Well done
