  • I'm really panicking about Lloydstsb stalling now until the OFT make their recommendation in April. Have just requested statements and the 40 days will take me to april practically. Lloyds seem to be slower than other banks too. Should have done this earlier but had to find a parachute account first.
    Am I worrying unneccesarily?

    Worrying too much!
  • I sent of my initial letter to Barclays almost 14 days ago (step 3). Today I got a standard delaying letter saying they are looking into my complaint and will hear back by 20th March. What should I do? Ignore it and go straight to stage 4 (threaten court action)?

Also, should I bother to recalculate my interest following another 2 weeks, and keep adding interest until they pay up?

Edit: sorry for repeating this. I thought I added it to this thread initially but for some reason it became its own thread.

Edit2: What do I put in the template letter where it says Name of Court? The above paragraph says county court so do I put [my county] County Court, [My town] Magistrates Court, or Wimbledon Tennis Court?
  • Bank: Halifax
    Amount Reclaimed: £2655
    Amount they paid: £2250
The story: I sent a letter away in mid January asking for copies of my statements, received a couple of standard letters but no statements. Telephoned Halifax last wednesday (21/2/07) to ask where my statements were, was told I would receive them within the next 7 days. Came home from work yesterday to find no statements but lo and behold a letter from Halifax offering me £1390, contained with the letter was a list of my bank charges which totalled £2655. Called Halifax this morning and told them no way and within 2 minutes they offered me £2250. That was great for me - considering I never even asked them for the money back - I simply asked for my statements LOL!! Am now eagerly awaiting payment into my account!
It was sooo easy for me - thank you Martin, for all your advice - this website is fantastic!! Am now in the process of helping my friends do the same thing!

Go on to your next letter

No, you only redo the interest if it reaches going to court as the bank are not obliged to pay you any interest unless it goes to court.

It was in the Success Stories thread and I shifted it out and am only now getting round to answering.

If you think the bank has a sense of humour you can try putting in Wimbledon but I'd put in your local court name or just leave it as local court. :)
  • i had written my first letter requesting my bank account charges (3682.00) from halifax on the 6th of february, within two days i received a reply saying that they are unable to process my request as they have the right on the charges, and if i do not agree to them, i should re write to them within eight weeks.

So, i re wrote to them on the 12th of february mentioning to them that i do not agree to them, and i claim through the court within fourteen days if i do not get a sattisfactore response to my letter. I then received another reply on the 14th february saying that they have passed on my letter to the customer relations dept who will write to me shortly.

on the fourteenth day, i phoned them up to find out what was happening, and the told me that it takes up to eight weeks for their decision and they have a right on it. i mentioned this website to the lady i spoke to, but she said 14 days is very less for them to take a decision. i also told her that im going to claim through the court and she said 'i can do, if i want to, its up to me'.

Somebody help what should i do? should i wait eight weeks? that would mean waiting untill 4th april or should i start the process to claim through the court now?

    Somebody please help me!

With difficulty sometimes Haribo, with difficulty ;)

Can I take this opportunity to tell all users that Rex_Mundi has had a family bereavement and has been offline for a week and likely to be off a further week so please bear with us.

He won't be answering pm's so the user who headed their pm "you are so slow" could perhaps keep that in mind.

You need to start the court process but perhaps wait until the beginning of next week if you think they might respond after your phone call.
