Reclaimed Bank Charges SUCCESS stories

Hi All
I'm new to the forum. We (myself and my partner (after 12 yrs of working our butts off and nothing to show for it) are trying to sort out our finances at last).
His colleague has just told us she has sucessfully reclaimed monies, obviously inspiring us as I know over the years we have been charged literally 1000's.
My question is...
As we have both been in overdraft in our individual accounts since our first term at uni (12yrs) will we be able to claim? I know that for the last 6 months of 06 we were charged at least £800 for being overdrawn (sometimes by over £100, sometimes by £2) from all three of our accounts and it would be very worthwhile to get the money back, it will clear both our overdrafts for sure and we wouldnt incurr any more charges.
Will I be able to claim even though I have been at fault and over my overdraft. Also, can we make a joint request for a summary of charges so we only pay out one £10.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Many thanks0 -

Hi All,
Have been watching all this avidly in the news and have now decided to take the plunge.
I had an account with Cahoot for sometime until I was off sick for 5 months end of 04 start of 05. I hadn't been in my job for long so wasn't entitled to much sick pay and despite trying to negotiate reduced payments etc with cahoot like I did with all my other creditors they refused to play ball, spent months and months adding default charges/overdrawn charges and everything else you can name onto my current account, loans and credit cards that i held with them. They then passed the debt onto a debt collection agency that immediately agreed to the same offer i had originally made to cahoot.
Can I still make a claim for these charges? Does anyone have any experience of Cahoot or similar circumstance? Should I treat all accounts as separate or should I lump them altogether in the same claim?
Any feedback gratefully recieved as I have to admit I am still slightly nervous about getting involved with Cahoot again and would like to be forewarned of any potential probs.
Thanks in anticipation.0 -
hi need some help with taking bank of scotland to court for charges.
im trying to reclaim £2949 but small claims in scotland only allow claims up to £750. what do i need to do to sue for the full amount?
also, when i asked for a list of charges, they only dated back to may 2004. should i go to court now for this and then start over when i get the rest of the list of charges. or just wait for all in the one go?0 -
Just set up a parachute account and my first letter including spreadsheet of charges has gone to First Direct sum of £1095.
Next it's RBS credit card!0 -
I've looked about and can't see the answer but here goes ... My bank has written back to me asking ME to list dates, amounts, etc of the charges. Surely they should know all this already. Is this just a ploy to delay things or make me not bother? I did send the highlighted charges on all the statements previously.
I'm pretty nervous about this anyway, any advice would be very gratefully received0 -

Hi,
I am in the process of claiming charges but haven't received my statements yet.
I think you have to clearly list the charge, the amount and date on the letter so they know what you are claiming for.....0 -
I did mine on a spreadsheet, date, amount, total then interest with overall total.... good luck0

You need to provide them with a list of the charges detailing the date, charge name/description, charge amount and a total.
I know it's the bank being awkward as they of course know the charges, but this information needs to be clear in case it goes to court.0
