Hello,
this is my first post on this forum. I am currently going through the steps to re-claim my bank charges. I haxe opened a new bank account and calculated my bank charges over the past 6 years. However, to switch my direct debits and overdraft I have to fill in a form which will close my current bank account.
The question is, if I do this will I still be able to proceed with my claim once my old account is closed?
Your response will be greatly appreciated.0 -

using the advice letters etc from this site - was even brave enough to put it in court (would have given up when they said no twice without this site!) Nationwide have put the total amount claimed into my account without any communication just came up on my statement as refund of interest, but without any interest or the court fee I paid which was £120 - should I write to them and request the balance, notify the court, my initial feeling was I got £889 that I never expected back and so I should just be happy with that, but am now thinking I should ask for the rest which comes to almost £600
Write to the bank saying something like....................
I cannot accept your offer of £889 as full and final settlement of my claim. I will accept this as part payment and without prejudice, but will continue my claim for the balance. I have made a reasonable effort to settle this claim before issuing a court claim, but you ignored my efforts to settle this. Seeing as I have now had to issue a court claim because of your failure to deal with my claim in a timely way, I will now settle only for the full amount of charges+statutory interest+court fee.
You also need to contact the court and adjust the amount of your claim because of the money paid to you already. They can advise you how to do this (I think you will need the form N244).How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

You will only need to transfer your bills if the bank asks you to close your account. If they do this, they normally give you 28 days notice.
If you choose to change the bills to a new account anyway, yes you can claim on a closed account. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Received letter from Mr. Higley this morning saying charges are fair, it's my fault but as a gesture!!!!!!!!!!

Bank : Natwest (RBS)
Amount reclaimed : £456.00 + £50 Cort costs
Amount they paid : £506
First contacted Natwest at the start of January, No response. Sent second letter two weeks later, they replied saying that they were looking in to my complaint. I decided to start a claim via moneyclaim, after two weeks they sent a cheque for the full amount.
Thank you Martin:T0 -

Hi,
I'm just about to start MCOL with the Halifax and Royal Bank Of Scotland / Tesco Personal Finance (Credit Card).
Halifax is pretty straight forward, but after keying in the address for rbs/tpf it comes up invalid as the registered address for them is in Scotland. How would I go about starting court proceedings against them, can I use the Scottish small claims court even though I am based in Brighton or is there another address I can use.
Thanks in advance for any help.0
