andrew2003 wrote:If it helps I was in the same kind of position and I reclaimed the amounts but they will not give you a cheque for what they owe but they will take it off what they owe you might as well go for it as it will reduce the amount you owe them so you end up clearing the balances quicker good luck.0

:j Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland
Amount Applied for: £564.00
Amount Received: £564.00
Thank you Martin!! Wrote to them in December 2006 asking for the above amount and got a letter offering me the full amount this morning (20th January 2007)!! I was prepared for threatening court action, but thankfully I don't need to. They maintain that they disagree with my claim of unlawful charges, but have offered the full amount as a 'goodwill' gesture, the cheeky blighters, but I'll take it thank you very much! Excellent advice as usual.0 -
Amount claimed: £190
Amount received: £190
Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who posted on this site which encouraged me to claim back £190 from Barclays - I wasn't sure whether to bother at first for a seemingly small amount but was encouraged but all the posts here. Thanks again - I love this site!

Hi Folks
Just after graduating I got mucked about by my landlord and decided to buy a property of my own just over 4 years ago. However I didn't have a 5% deposit and the bank charged me approx £1,500 extra, which got added to the original amount I borrowed.
So I was wondering whether anyone else has come across these types of charges and have taken any action to try to reclaim them?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers

You will need to read the papers you signed on taking out your mortgage but it sounds like they "loaned" you an extra £1,500 because you didn't have the deposit rather than "charging" you.0

Hi. Newbie here.
I was given this site by a friend who got £1200 from Lloyds Tsb!
So, after reading everything on the site for a week to make sure I knew what to do, I sent my first letter (claiming interest) to the HSBC claiming £3666.24!
(I class myself as one of their 'better' customers, as they have made so much money out of me)
So, I am now waiting to see what happens. I will keep you updated and hopefully in another few weeks, I will be posting 'my success story' .
Thanks,
Oh and a big congratulations to the bloke in 'The Sun' newspaper today who actually sent the baliffs into RBS in London! They unplugged and took several computers, fax and a till full of cash!!

First Direct
Amount claimed £80
Amount received £105!!!
As a newbie to this site; this was my first attempt at consumer action...not as much money as some other people but more than I expected!
First Direct tried to charge me £80 for being £34 over my O/D limit. Not only have they refunded the £80 on receipt of the letter I sent (thanks to Martin) but THEY pointed out they'd charged me £25 a year ago, so they refunded that as well!
and I've moved my a/c to Alliance & Leicester Premier Direct...0
