Use the calculator that Martin has provided for the interest.
Step-by-step Guides: Bank Charges: Reclaim Your Cash | Top New Bank Account Calculator: Charge them interest Template Letters: (right click and save) Ask for charge details |Initial letter | Second letter | Small claims note Get Updates On Important Changes: Free Weekly Money Tip
You can claim this in your first letter but if they make you an offer before going to court the offer won't include any interest.0 -

Abbey have ignored previous letters stating that "the charges do not contravene thoses regulations and therefore cannot agree to refund them". Therefore I used the Money Expert website to take it to court. This was very easy to use but I am now panicking as for the "Particulars of Claim" I didnt include any legal jargon. Just stated that they were unjustified charges and listed dates and amounts???? Please advise if I should add wording. I have never done this before???? Thank you so much for any help/advice
Have a read of this post ....

Thanks - much appreciated...... But for the initial wording that I filled in on the Money Claim website. Do I need any paricular wording? Also do we wait 5 days plus 14 days and if we do not hear anything, does it mean that we have won?? Sorry to be so clueless but really do not have a clue at this stage?? Thanks0

Evening
I wrote my first letter requesting my charges back on the the 29th DEC.
I posted on the 2nd special delivery.
The postie tried to deliver it at 11.01 am on the 3rd of jan no one was available to sign for it so he left them a card so it could be picked up from the local delivery office ( less than 1/4 of a mile away!). I know the post workers at the delivery office well ( i have a P.o BOx) . They tell me that they have a lot of problems with getting the bank to take special delivery letters ( maybe they know whats comming!),
So when i went in on the 9th of Jan i asked the post worker if they had been to pick it up yet?, guess what they had not he showed me my letter waiting in there pigeon hole!.
I went into the branch and they said that they have not recived a card for a special delivery. ( MY AR*E)
So i poped home printed another one of and took it to the branch I was greeted buy a young man ( just left school by the l@@K of it !) I asked if his dad was in !. <<< I didnt really that might not go down well.
I handed him my letter and asked him if he could give me a recipt to prove that they have recived it . his reply " What do you need a recipt for i have just seen you give it to me "
After a lot of expaining i got a compliment slip saying that they have recived the letter.
SO.......... Does anyone know when the 14 day count down starts?
( my 2nd letter is stamped up and redy to go)
Is it from the date of the letter
Is it from the date they left them the card
is it from the date i hand deliverd it?
Many thanks JIM
SO where do i stand?0 -
i have just received the court letter and it states that the court is in Northampton. Is this because i am claiming against A&L, and this is the nearest court? I live in southampton, so its a bit further away. Thing is, on the moneyclaims website i did not enter any court details. Is this normal? i don't fancy treking up to northampton if it actually gets to court!!!If i have helped, use the thanks button!0

i think it is because northampton is the bulk clearing court when most banks issue a ccj they use northampton.0 -

It’s up to you really but I would give them 14 days form when u handed it in to them but I have found that most of the bank I wrote to settled before going to court because I gave them a few extra days but it’s up to you really how long you give them. Well that’s what I think anyway.0
