Bank : Royal Bank Scotland
Amount claimed : £105
Amount received : £105
Very quick and painless experience - wrote the first letter 7 days ago.
This was on a bank account I had closed over a year ago.
Cheque for full amount arrived this morning, no explanation, very strange, still banked the cheque straight away.
Also heard back from Abbey & Halifax yesterday with partial offers, sent letter back saying I am willing to accept your goodwill payment of xxxx as a partial payment of the full amount without prejudice, and continued to stage 2, will update you of outcome.
Still waiting for reply from Nat West, they still have 1 week to reply to the first letter.LUCK COMES TO THOSE WHO WAIT PATIENTLY0 -

you don’t have to claim interest on top but you might swell and there is a bit on the home page on this site that you put the charge amount and date in and it calculates the interest for you.0 -
Moneyinvalid wrote:Help!!! In August of 2006 things got to much for me as I toted up how much I owed and it worked out to around £59,307
pounds!! So I decided enough was enough I contacted the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) and I am now on a debt management plan (which is another issue probably for another thread but you do need a bit of background before I get to my point)!!!! So I am now on a budget and paying back what I can to LLoydsTSB, Alliance and Leicester (A&L), Capital One, Intelligent Finance, Halifax and MBNA. As you can imagine I have had a variety of responses some semisupportive some downright agressive and rude!
Obviously based on the above I am not the favourite customer of these banks but having checked my records noted the snowball effect of their charges on me (in the 2 years I have been with A&L They have charged me over £900.00 in charges)!
So, my question is do you think in my position that I should just forget these charges or should I claim them back and use them to help reduce my debts. I am struggling to deal with the banks as it is and I am worried that by doing this I could be putting myself in an even worse position, by upsetting those that have been semisupportive and making the agressive ones more agressive.
If anyone could help it would be much appreciated particularly if you are in a similar situation. I am constantly worrying about money and just want to get it all cleared so I can start again. I have learnt my lesson!
If it helps I was in the same kind of position and I reclaimed the amounts but they will not give you a cheque for what they owe but they will take it off what they owe you might as well go for it as it will reduce the amount you owe them so you end up clearing the balances quicker good luck.0 -

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT SITE!
Me and my dad are both trying to get our bank charges back, i have sent the first letter to Natwest Mastercard and Barclaycard, had responses back basically sayin i have no chance of gettin my money back so sending second letter threatening court action!
Would realy appritiate any comments from people who have had expiriences with these two!
Many thanks
Paddy
Claiming:
Natwest Mastercard: £212.51 inc. interest
Barclaycard: £610.54
Natwest & RBS are part of the same group and there card centre customer services are at the same place and this is what I did
RBS Cards - they settled in full after 2 letter and a phone call they tried to offer less twice I said no so they settled in full.
Mint Card (RBS) - they settled in full after 1 letter and a phone call again they tried to offer less but when I said no they paid in full.
I phoned them on the last day they had to respond to my second letter and asked to speak to a manager I told him that I was doing him a favour by phoning them and that if he did not settle with me on the phone there and then I would issue court papers at first he tried telling me they would not pay nothing, he then tried to offer me lower amounts twice and I said no he then paid the full amount including the interest.
sorry cant help with barclaycard0 -

Hi All,
Abbey have ignored previous letters stating that "the charges do not contravene thoses regulations and therefore cannot agree to refund them". Therefore I used the Money Expert website to take it to court. This was very easy to use but I am now panicking as for the "Particulars of Claim" I didnt include any legal jargon. Just stated that they were unjustified charges and listed dates and amounts???? Please advise if I should add wording. I have never done this before???? Thank you so much for any help/advice0 -
