  • Hi, Barclaycard are to defend claim and have counter-claimed against me to the sum of £1500. Recieved Questionairre on Saturday. Can anyone advise? PLEASE Starting to really get edgy!!!
  • Sorry if this is off topic and I apologise in advance for my language when referring to my local council (LB Sutton) as a bunch of useless, fascist swine but the thought came to mind over the weekend if it was possible to claim these unfair fines back from the local council (the fascist pigs that they are). We’re always getting behind and we’re always being fined!

    Ta very much.

    Hi

I want to try and claim back bank charges with my bank, but I remember reading somewhere that the bank can close your account? Can someone please advise if this is true?

If so, can I stop them from doing so. I do have another account with HSBC but don't want to lose the other account (IF.com).

    Thanks

  • Bank: HSBC
    Amount Reclaimed: £2749.50
    Amount Paid: £2367.40
The Story: HSBC ignored by first two letters but made the offer of a partial settlement after acknowledging receipt of the court papers. It's taken them 2 months from the date of the first letter and that includes the time off over Christmas. I've paid out £120 in court costs but was happy to settle as wanted to start the New Year without one of my credit cards and pleased I've done a good turn for consumers everywhere. Now that I have been successful many of my friends are now taking the same action!!
    Cheers!

Yes there is always a risk they will close your account, thats why its advisable to set up a fall-back account just in case.Unfortunately there is nothing you can do to stop it!

  • Hi everyone. I just wanted to say that reading all these success stories here has motivated me to get on and claim back all my charges from Halifax. First letter to be posted in the morning. Wish me luck!
  • Bank:Natwest
    Amount Reclaimed:£270.81
    Amount they paid:£270.81
The story: Rejected first offer with a letter stating i was taking them to court recieved another letter with total amount on condition it was full and final settlement, i agreed and recieved the cheque ten days later

    Bank:Capital One
    Amount Reclaimed:£140.00
    Amount they paid:£187.17
The Story: Sent standard letters and accepted their "goodwill gesture" of seventy pounds as partial payment. They refused to up it so took them to court for the remainder which increased to £115.17 (interest and court cost) they defended the claim but sneakily in their defence it stated "Cap. One will now defend the claim on the basis that the full claimed amount has been paid". Turns out they credited my account but didnt tell me directly. No worries though as long as i have the money!!! Sorting out all my other accounts/credit cards now!:T :T
Thankyou to everyone who has posted it really helped guide me through the procedures!!!
