  • I sometimes send non-recorded and never sd. I only do this when I have a back-up plan and never recommend others do this. SD plus insurance is the only foolproof way to cover yourself.

As for the 1st January/1st July t&c - provided these were the ones at the time you signed up you're on a slightly different version than others deal which were Spring (where 6 months meant 5). I am involved with one ordered in April and another after your one in May; both are on the 5 instead of six months. Either you're not looking at the correct t&c from the point of sale or they changed them back more than once in an exceptionally short space of time - even for them! If so you are therefore correct and they are wrong. However, they usually like you to sue unless you're selected as an example of their (apparent) "good" customer service on here.

My strong suspicion is that you are looking at one of the deliberately misleading alternate t&c rather than the ones you actually signed up to. The ones either side of your dates which I am tracking both state somehting different:- "i.e. if you purchased on the 1st April 2008, you need to send in a bill that is dated within September 2008, your claim window is 60 days from the date of that bill." See what I mean?

I changed my tariff, and although it was a breach of their legal T&Cs, they still paid out.

    They probably didn't realise!

Not recommended to try unless you can afford to lose any remaining cashback due.

That just proves how incompetent they are!

I am NOT a mortgage & insurance adviser - or anything to do with finance, that was put on by the new system I dont know why?!
  • Actually I've changed mine on occasion; they actually had it on their website that you could, although on a price-match deal it would be different. I never shouted about it for obvious reasons, but nowadays it's all academic - you have to fight for your cashback regardless of whether you follow the t&c or not once you've been "selected" for their special treatment! As far as I'm now concerned, they're completely despictable nowadays. I am personally aware of at least four court cases which have either completed or are in progress, where the claimants did absolutely NOTHING wrong, followed the t&c to the letter and E2save ignored it all - and I have come close at least two more times to suing them myself. Fortunately, they do sometimes make other mistakes which are also not in their favour - and it's fantastic when that happens, knowing they've been stuffed by their own deviousness!

For those claiming they don't have problems, note this; I have several other contracts through them where I could say the same. Still, if you still feel "lucky"....

Given that OSPS/E2Save etc al have decided to become disreputable - is there any company offering cashbacks you'd now recommend as reasonable Mobilejunkie?

    TIA
I do hope you're telling the truth?
  • Yep. Easy. Mobiles2yourdoor/Phones4u (same company. currently excellent - BUT things change so don't assume it will stay thus!). Always follow the groundrules:-

Unless you're willing to fight (and know how) avoid E2Save etc like the plague - they become worse by the day. Besides; their deals are utter rubbish (though I suspect they'll have to make another play before Christmas since - among other reasons - their share price has absolutely plunged recently, which comes as no surpirse to me and is their just deserts!). Great shame though - they used to be excellent! Blame it on the IIC and those who put him/her there!

Useful as ever, thanks - P4U used to have a terrible rep for cashbacks if memory serves - but as you say things have a habit of changing. Appreciated.

  • They did, certainly - just as E2Save/cpw used to have a fantastic reputation. All change now. My groundrules (written about 14 months ago) dictate that anyone embarking on a cashback deal needs to keep up to date. People are learning the hard way and I get flack sometimes for repeating the same old things and criticising those who don't do their own research. I stand by what I say - and it's all based on what I myself do.

Hey - no flack from me! I visit this thread when I need a new contract or when my cashbacks are due to be submitted. Appreciate the advise from someone who obviously spends far more time and does this far more frequently than i'm likely to do.

The fact that you haven't stopped replying to the same old questions is a testament to your patience. We all just want to save a bit of cash, right?
