Thank you for your advice
Were you in this situation before?
I was thinking of staying with O2 but on pay as you go, can't believe that I can not keep the same sim card with O2. I have been advise to port my no. to the O2 pay as you go sim, how odd.
urban469, If I get the PAC code on 13th Oct, so when I receive my bill for the 19Oct, its ready for porting, any problem with that?
My main concern is that wouldn't O2 tie me into another 12months contract, if i don't notify them before the 19Oct?
Thank you
As Quentin says, you won't be tied into another 12 month contract - it is only the FIRST 12 months which is in contract (unless they offer you a deal, in return for another 12 months).
Yes, you can request the PAC code on the 13th - requesting the code doesn't have any impact on the contract at all, and it won't show up on your bill, or affect your tariff at all.
Things only start to happen when you give that PAC code to your new network. So you'll have the PAC code on the 13th, and then you can give it to your new network as soon as you've got the bill in your hand.
Yes, I was in exactly the same situation - and no matter how much screaming I did at O2, they would not issue a bill dated around the 19th - they insisted I wait until the 'final bill' two weeks after the normal bill date.
And I too had the problem of porting to O2 PAYG. In fact, I was transferring from one O2 contract to another (both cashback offers) - so I had to port out to pay as you go, then port back in.
The problem was I ported out to Orange PAYG (because Voda and T_Mob don't let you port out in the first 30 days) - they are the most incompetent network in the UK. They would not issue me with a PAC code over the phone, they insisted on sending it - which they didn't. Time was ticking (because I had to port BACK into O2 within 14 days of the start of the contract) and I eventually had to get Ofcom's advice. At that point, Orange gave me the PAC code over the phone as a 'goodwill gesture'.0 -
Getting a bill dated two weeks later shouldn't mean you can't claim the final cashback. If you ignore their subsequent "claim windows" and stick with the legal t&c at the point of sale just about all versions of the t&c (I think one briefly may have been different in this respect) go from the bill date and not the connection date in effect. The one you are talking about must have been a price-match deal. There is a direct conflict between the legal t&c and the ones they attempt to impose. The legal t&c would be no problem for a later dated bill. It would simply mean you'd have to sue to get your money (though many people are getting quite used to doing that now and it's generally straighforward and predictable and costs them more than necessary in order for you to extract payment).0

Didn't know that...interesting.

How long are taking to sort out claims these days.
I sent in my last (5th) claim on the 21st Aug to Crewe as I did the previous 4 claims, all were paid within a couple of weeks.
This one however was redirected to Hedge End, Southampton.
Maybe I was lucky with the first 4 but as this is the last one I'm getting concerned, not only for the £84 cheque but the fact that I let the (£35)contract run into month 14 to be sure of getting the last bill.
CPW or OSPS to be correct stitched me up on my last cash-back contract by not sending out my last bill.
e-mailed 'em, seems my claim has not been received despite the PO tracking saying they had it at Southampton.
I've been asked to send copies in to Loughborough, which I've done, I'll wait and see..................0 -
They'll accept it - they have too apart from anything else. If they don't, LBA then sue. However, they will within a few days! On reflection, I'm now so sick of this outfit that if they choose to do that to one of mine I think I will decline sending a copy but send the LBA instead. They have messed me around a few times now in various ways and if they have my claim and lose it, it's their problem! In order to avoid the minor hassle (but satisfaction) of making them uncomfortable you may be (just a little!) more patient...!0

I sent my first claim recorded delivery on 1st Sep. The online tracking is still showing as "currently progressing through our network". I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread that they don't sign for all item and sometimes you may receive this message. Is there a telephone number to check if they have actually received the claim.0
-
I would double check with royal mail by phone as they made a mistake when entering the tracking details into their system with my last claim. When I phoned up they apologised and told me it had been delivered and gave me the date of delivery. A week or so later I received 3 checks in the post from e2save.0

It's very common. Once it moves to "currently processing" it usuallt means they will confirm delivery when you call them but (like most of Royal Mail) their systems don't work properly and they aren't bothered about fixing them. I don't have a Royal Mail number to hand but there is an 0845 on their forms and website as well as a geographical one if you check it on Saynoto0870.0

Mobilejunkie. Thanks to your invaluable advise I have received 4 of the 5 cheques up to date and the last one is due to be sent off next month. Could you point me in the right direction to which company I should use for my next contract.
