employer had to agree to be off ,my partner had to provide medical evidence that was it .As far as his employer is concerned he is going to be signed off for a few months ,hasnt given him any options .

How do you mean signed off, I hope you don't mean laid off? If he is employed and produces sick notes from his GP then he should be getting sick pay.

OP, you seem to putting obstacles in the way of every suggestion made to you.
You ask noone to comment on the surgery/recovery as they are not qualified to do so. As he hasnt had the ops yet and you yourself havent been through the procedure, how can you be so sure what he will and wont be able to do.

Surley his mobility is restricted at the moment yet he still manages to drive, work etc.
How you be so sure he wont be able to cope after the op?

you also seem to have bundled you mortgage payments AND your unsecured loan into 1 ammount.

Another post by you "Mortgage :£48,831 Unsecured Loan :£11,652 paying about £427 (including insurances )."

Will the insurances your paying not cover for this kind of thing?

Why are you not telling us the WHOLE truth here?
  • hes not driving at the moment , i take him ,but as of next week i wont be able to .I bundle them into one amount because that is how they are paid ,i pay loan mortgage and insurances(buildings and contents) all through NR so it gets taken as 1 payment ,why is this an issue ?

im going by wot the surgeon has said ,i feel that he is qualified(wouldnt u ?)

im not putting barriers up ,ppl suggested working from home i said that i would look into that ,noone has been able to give any advice about this ?

i was told to see if he can do any other job at work ,we will look into this ,and im also going to see if the bus is an option to travel .

tell me wot points im not taking on board ,the only ones i wont take on board are those that he cant do , i.e driving ,unless u would like him to break the law ,and taking £50 taxis each way to work (thats just stupidity)

So youve been able to take him up to now but when he has his op you cant take him anymore? How is he going to get to work next week?
How is going to mange visiting his child every week?

I bundle them into one amount because that is how they are paid ,i pay loan mortgage and insurances(buildings and contents) all through NR so it gets taken as 1 payment ,why is this an issue ?

because when you say my mortgage is x and we will only have y to live off your including loans that are not counted as living expences

im going by wot the surgeon has said ,i feel that he is qualified(wouldnt u ?) so did the surgeon say he will not be mobile for 6 months?

im not putting barriers up ,ppl suggested working from home i said that i would look into that ,noone has been able to give any advice about this ?
really? you say your gonna look into a lot of things.

i was told to see if he can do any other job at work ,we will look into this ,and im also going to see if the bus is an option to travel .
but you allready said the office was full and why would they bother taking more staff on.

tell me wot points im not taking on board ,the only ones i wont take on board are those that he cant do , i.e driving ,unless u would like him to break the law ,and taking £50 taxis each way to work (thats just stupidity)
when a taxi was suggested how was the poster to know it would be a £50 fare? Did the surgeon say he cant drive for 6 months?
  • yes he was told he wont be able to drive or work for 6mths. Really dont understand ur point about my mortgage and loan as its a together mortgage with nr i have to pay both to keep the roof over my head .

I CANT DRIVE HIM AS I HAVE TO START ANOTHER JOB NEXT WEEK I SIMPLY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE IN 100 PLACES AT ONCE ,2 JOBS AND FULLTIME UNI ???????????????what dnt u understand about this .

as for his son clearly other arrangements will have to be made (dnt know wot that has to do with anything th

My husband regularly worked 70 hours a week, 60 most of the time until he became ill last year with stage 4 kidney failure and a tumour on his kidney, he cant go back to the same work again but even as ill as he is hes looking to the future and what work he will be fit enough to do, I wish he was only having simple surgery and he would be well in 6 months time, you dont know how lucky you are.

Why cant you claim on the PPI for your mortgage and secured loan, thats what it for.

The systems the system and you could have looked at what it is a long time ago and saved to make sure that you had the cash for emergencies like this but you didnt and thats your fault, you need to have a fiancial cushion in these times and as soon as hes back to work you need to work out a plan for the future.

His employer is obliged by law to look for a temperary position for him to work in while hes going through surgery/recovery but you havnt even looked at that, you are just looking for someone to blame, just stand together and look in the mirror together and let this time be a lesson to you both.

PaisleyPPL well done for taking on a second job and well done for not wanting your OH's kids to miss out, ignore the trolls completely just put them on ignore. ;) I don't think you are being fair to say there is no help out there, if you have a mortgage you are expected to help yourself the first three months.

Is your OH any good at maths? If so get him to read the 'Gambling Loopholes' board and learn about matched betting (zero risk, a system, need £50 to start off). People have made several thousand pounds by just investing lots of time to learn the system. :T It's tax free as the money comes from the bookies even tho you aren't really gambling, and no need to travel.

Also get your OH to read the 'Up Your Income' board. Join a cashback site (Topcashback, Quidco) and switch suppliers or banks or take advantage of free offers. Also get him to join a few survey (IPSOS, Valued Opinions) and focus group sites (Indiefield, Saros) as they do have online focus groups. The money won't come through for months but at least it will keep him occupied and it will help you get back on your feet a bit quicker - money would probably come in really handy at Christmas. :xmassmile

Lastly think about getting him to sell stuff on eBay or Amazon - it does mean someone has to go to the Post Office once a fortnight tho. I think there is a way you can prepare all the photos and text for sale and then hold off actually putting the item up for auction until he is back on crutches. And introduce him to Mysupermarket, if you can trust him to budget he can do the grocery shopping online and look for all the best two-for-one offers!

Are you sure you can't take in a lodger for some tax-free income? Do you really only have a one bedroom house? If you had a lodger they might be willing to take some of the strain in terms of housework, grocery shopping, cooking or going to the Post Office in return for a really cheap short term let. I know Badgerlady (diary on House Buying board) had a lodger who did the cleaning.
