I do that too, whenever I read a book I want to go where it's set! Or if there's lots of food in it I find myself eating similar things (fantasy always has a lot of bread and honey so that becomes my breakfast when I'm reading it!).

Glad I'm not the only one! I recently read a Reginald Hill where a character used to visit an old lady and ate slabs of freshly cooked bread with butter and home-made marmalade. Guess what I fancied for ages!!:rotfl:

I spent ages in a well known bookshop today, with a coffee, pouring over books I didn't buy!

I am looking ot get a couple of books to teach me how to work my sewing machine though. No luck on any of my swap sites and I've ages to go before I make up points in surveys so I may have to buy some. Will look at cashback sites and for the cheapest ones though. And at least they will be teachinh me how to use my sewing machine, instead of allowing it to fester in the corner!

How about asking on your local freecycle site, maybe someone has one lurking around! :)

I'll be honest and tell you I'm yet to find a book as a beginner I'd be able to follow and I must have bought about 20 before I decided to join a class. They just don't seem to give me the right information to be confident sewing. I would thoroughly recomend even a short course to help you. Alternatively try youtube for free videos, ust type in 'machine sewing' or 'learn to sew', there are some good sewing tutorials/blogs out there such as this one: http://www.youtube.com/user/ThreadBanger, and most people learn better by seeing something done than reading about it. Sew magazine is also currently available online for 3 issues for either £1 or £3, can't remember, but it's really inspiring and there are some good tutorials featured in there from time to time.

Have you looked at the second hand stuff on Amazon? If you chose a supplier with a high rating you normally get an excellent service.

True. I just ordered one (reference book so it doesn't count! :p) and it was here promptly and in good condition for a bargain price. :D
