  • Well, I sort of realised it when it took 2 vans to move house last year...bearing in mind I have a single room in a flatshare....thank god I have a massive room. Been doing really well; bags and bags have been binned and given to charity, sold 38 books in the last 12 months, and that was BEFORE I added loads of brand new chick lit yesterday...also got rid of most of my CDs, having burnt them to my hard drive. So in the space occupied by 8,000 CDs I have a few Hard Drives and a few special CDs (eg signed or by friends of mine)...and I'm currently working my way through my wardrobe; I'm putting winter things away and getting summer ones out and trying on things I'm not sure of...Anyway...it's always nice to find like-minded people. You book fans should check out the forums on Greenmetropolis. :)

OMG, Flickering - you ARE me!

I refuse to get rid of my CDs, though, on the basis of all the problems I have had with crashing hard drives and deleted data.      I would slit my wrists if all my music was eaten and I had now way of retrieving it. I've bought a DJ box to store them in, and am (slowly) burning them onto an external hard drive as my laptop only has 250GB or memory, which is nothing!

I'm impressed with how much decluttering you have done, and hope to get along as best I can as well.

    Keep me posted! ;)

  • I have bought an external drive. It's a Toshiba one which is really good; wanted the Seagate 1TB size ones and although I know someone who uses them with no problems, the reviews scared me so I'd rather pay for more Toshiba ones which are safe than lose my music if you see what I mean...also need to save my photos given that I lost some irreplaceable ones last time my laptop died. I've got over 100 pairs of pants !!!!!!....it's ridiculous. As for books, I have over 100 already packed up and labelled, ready to be sent to any buyers. My room looks like a warehouse.

I may have to join you on that thread - at least I know I always have a clean pair!

Seem to have got my reading mojo back, finished Life On Air by David Attenborough :T:T:T:T:T although it's not his life history, its his broadcasting history. Loads of fascinating photos and amusing stories, amazing the people he has worked with too. Definitely one I'll be keeping (in between loaning it to family members)

A Thousand Splendid Suns next I think, although I may see if I can get into my World War 1 history. Got two weeks off work coming up so plenty of evenings curled up with a book are planned.
  • Another 11 books listed, 3 of which won't be selling any time soon; in the Latin language from the Latin A Level I did in 2004.

Fabulous book, I still have the Kite Runner to read, but loved that one.

Just reading Piers Morgan "God Bless America", am halfway through Dead to the World" (no 4 of the True Blood series) but might start Victoria Hislop "The Return". Why can I never just read one book at a time :o

AVOID SEAGATE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

My last one was a SG and it was useless. I bought an Iomega with an aluminium case so that it might stand some chance of withstanding a knock. Hope it works!

  • Just finished Goodbye Jimmy Choo which I didn't really enjoy, and listed it on Greenmetropolis along with 3 unused audiobooks in various languages.

Not sure what the next book I'm going to read is...there's about 60 left to choose from in my TBR pile/shelf!!
