So my carting a suitcase of books halfway across the world paid off and I got through 7 paperbacks whilst on holiday - lots of free space on my bookshelves now!
I read:
The Decision - Penny Vicenzi
The Appeal - John Grisham
Dishonour - Jacqui Rose
Pretty Little Things - Jilliane Hoffman
The Bone Bed - Patricia Cornwell
Undone - Karin Slaughter
Never Look Back - Lee Child
All were pretty good and I'm just about finished a Tess Gerritsen.MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -
Yes, I have found that I am also picturing the characters. How many others did Jenny Worth write?
She wrote:-
Call the Midwife
Shadows of the Workhouse
Farewell to the East End
All three are about her time working as a midwife.
She's also written one called Eczema and Food Allergy : The Hidden Cause - My Story but I've not read that one.Did owe £9,951.96

Finished reading Fairytale of New York as recommended from here, and although felt it slow to begin with enjoyed the second half......

Now started one birthday pressie .... captive Queen - Alison Weir
Only one extra unknown book for my birthday so far so not feeling too guiltyAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

I was doing so well with not purchasing any new books and thinking I might actually get to the end of the To-Read list, only to go and get married and then we've subsequently purchased over 100 books from Book People. I might add that most of them are probably more what the husband would read!
I've just started on Ben Aaronovitch's Peter Grant series, finished Rivers of London and absolutely loved it. On to the second one called Moon over Soho.0 -
I've almost finished my next book it's called 'now is good' by Jenny Downham my friend gave it to me to read on holiday but I never did and now I'm glad I didn't it's such a depressing book about a girl who's dying and has a list of things she wants to do. It's quite an easy read and but not very gripping.£10,000 to go to a debt free life0

Fiished Last To Die by Tess Gerritsen. Think I'm done with her now as the plots just get more and more far-fetched every time. Next up, a Jeffrey Archer my MIL loaned to me a couple of years ago...
Remembered another holiday read: Eve Green by Susan Fletcher - a very enjoyable book, well written.MFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -

Hurray I can cross a book off my list. This week an extended wait at a bus stop (grrrr!) has meant that I managed to complete a book. Face by Benjamin Zephaniah wasn't my usual kind of book but it's one I've heard a lot about so thought I would give it a go. It took a bit to get into but I quite enjoyed it. It made me think about how quick we can be to judge people who look different to ourselves, even when we don't mean to treat them any differently.
Not sure what will be next. I'm still slowly re-reading Harry Potter, but the books are too big and heavy to have as bus books on the way to work!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3
