OK just finished #48/60: Madeleine is Sleeping by Sarah Shun-Lien Bynum.
this was an odd little book, but beautifully written, so it stays in the permanent collection.

so those two sort of follow each other.
the red and white queens are set further back in the historial time line as they are before the time of Henry VIIIs birth - wars of the roses time. both books tell the same story but through the eyes of a different woman, the white queen was Elizabeth Woodville, king Edward IVs wife and the red queen (Margaret Beaufort) his mother. reading the white queen i hated the red one but reading the red queens version of events i did soften to her a bit. funnily enough i was reading these while our city was being dug up looking for the bones of Edwards brother King Richard. i keep saying i must go to the new visitors centre we now have set up about him.
they are from two different series shes done but a all good stand alone storys
according to her website this is the order the tudor series should be read in

morning folks:coffee:
i decided to pick up a slim volume of short stories next: Aimee Bender's The Girl in the Flammable Skirt
it's my first of hers, but i'm halfway through the second story and enjoying it thus far. she comes highly recommended, so highly, in fact, that i went out a few weeks back and impulsively bought 4 of her books pretty cheaply online. must stop doing thathaving said that, i did get one of them free in the end as it was damaged when it arrived, so a bit of a result.
anyway, i should easily get this one done this weekend, if not another one too, so have a nice few days off everyone, and keep readingMortgage-Free WannabeMortgage at start [20/6/12]: £151,800/MFD Jun 2035 (age 65)Mortgage now [5/11/14]: £139,212.14/MFD Oct 2029 (age 59)Personal Library 2014:starmod: Read in 2014: 57/60 :starmod: In Progress: 2 :starmod: Books In: 94 :starmod: Books Out: 12 :starmod: TBR: 847 :starmod:0 -

Hello, I'd like to join too!
My name is garfield33, and I'm a bookaholic. There, I said it.
I have an overflowing bookcase of to-reads. I haven't attempted to count them, in fact the thought scares me a little. Despite this mild addiction, I maintain there's no such thing as too many books, just a lack of storage space. And work really gets in the way of my reading time.
Anyway, my main weakness is that I volunteer in a charity bookshop... it's so dangerous. I try (and frequently fail!) to operate a one-in-one-out policy. So many lovely books!
At the weekend a friend gave me a box of books to take to the shop, I'm sad to say about 8 have gone on a little detour to my bookcase before they make it to the shop.
Anyway, I have just finished The Winter of our Disconnect, non-fiction about a woman who makes her family go screen-free for 6 months. No TV, computers or phones in the house. I've left it out where OH can see it as a not-subtle hint regarding his tech-addiction.0 -
