HI..im up for this avid reader..thankfully also an avid recycler so usually once read it goes to a friend/mum who then recycles it again lol. I think i only have maybe 20 books at home, id like to have a "stocked bookshelf of classics" and im slowly repacing the junk chick lit novels with the classics, but i want to read those before replacing (and ony replacing if it comes in at the book jumble sales for 50p)

Just finished Call The Midwife, and Before i sleep by Sj watson , both excellent reads. Currently reading Diary of a 1920s Kitchen maid which is also rather worth a read.

Currently on the go i have some random chick lit which is a bit same old stuff really.

Ok just counted i have 27 fiction books really want to read and replace with books i want to keep..see you on the other side hopefully i can do them all this year!

    Hi

Made a note of the diary of a 1920's kitchen maid to read but can't seem to find it. Is that the title of the book?

    Thanks

hI I haven't posted on here for over a year but have just read a book called "Just What Kind of Mother are you? by Paula Daly. It was a brilliant book a real page turner and I would thoroughly recommend it. Unfortunately it didn't help reduce my unread book pile as I bought it.

    Oh well never mind xx

just read some reviews for it on goodreads JARUS, it looks a really interesting book so thank you for the recommendation - one to look out for.

finding my current book a bit of a slog, its quite choppy to read, its sort of an explanation of whats wrong with society or mankind at the moment but its interspersed with dialogues between fear and truth. im determined not to give up on it but unless it gets a bit easier to take in ill be glad to see the back of it.

Have tried to find some of my wish list books from RISI free on Amazon but to no avail. Did manage to download a few other free books though :o (19 in total). Can I try and justify myself by saying most of them were what I would call stories from my childhood and would be good stories to keep for when my little boy is old enough to read?

i would say that is justified. my sister over a few christmases has managed to locate 2 of my books from childhood that i loved and kept going on about. they are definitely keepers.
and in our attic i have the tom and pippo, and frog and toad books (as well as some other my children loved just in case i ever get grandchildren)

Took some books back to the library this morning and had a quick scan along the shelves of newly returned books, I was so :j:j:j to find Bring up the bodies by Hilary Mantel, I have been looking for this in the library or charity shops for ages. Off for a few day away in the motor home, so this one will be going with me:D

  • I've had to take a break from Robert Peston! Really good book but feeling bit overwhelmed with he gobsmacking info and rather angry too!

So I've gone to the other extreme and am reading a tale of pure hedonism - the Led Zep biography, Hammer of the Gods!!
