Sometimes I had to read a sentence a couple of times to work out who the author was talking about, as she referred to everybody as 'he', and I couldn't work out whether it was Cromwell or another 'he'!

Hi All, have finally finished reading the Cuckoos Calling by JK Rowling. Took a little while to get into it. But couldn't put it down for the last 200 pages.
Have now started another Mark Gimenez book - Accused.
But have just found out that there was a book that came before this - the Colour of Law. Did think about stopping this one and getting hold of a secondhand copy of the other book but I now know how the other one will end. So I have decided finish this one first.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

kensuki's kingdom was about a young boy washed up on an island when he falls off his parents yatch, the island is inhabited by a group of orangutans a japanese pilot who doesnt know the war has ended and has been hiding on the island caring for the apes - beautifully written
when the whales came is such a beautiful book that made me cry, its based on an island off scotland and tells the legend of the narwhales.
most of his books have an animal as the main character, there are lots on my sons shelf ive not yet read that are on my tbr list but i make myself read a few of mine in between them as i know they are all keepers.
enjoying sea glass at the mo, its not a happy book its based in america at the start of the depression and the mill strikes in a new england town2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

I am a sucker for this! I have a kindle so space is not the issue, and on kindle you can get a lot of books for cheap/cheaper (hence why I have so many - can't resist a bargain!)
As such I now have around 60 books to read on my kindle... (although in my defence about 15/20 of those are classics which are free on kindle)
I have been good and haven't bought as many books recently though as I am trying to clear my credit cards and save... I also got rid of my hoard of proper books that were filling up the house - they went to the charity shop or the hospital
I do get through quite a lot of books but I think I have enough for now so will try and refrain from adding to the library!0 -
I've just counted...I've got 90 books that I haven't read! I think I need to start to make a dent in them!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Hi Folks,
Been aaaages since I've posted in here!! I've been mega busy with uni work so although I've done lots of reading and it's all been interesting stuff, I've not read for pleasure in a while.
But!
I've got a bit more time on my hands now that the bulk of my uni work is in so I want to make a real dent in my unread books. I've updated the lists I've made in this thread (on pages 149 and 150 if anyone wants to take a look) and I've decided to work my way through three books at the mo, as people have lent them to me or I've borrowed from the uni library. So they are:
Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Caf! by Fannie Flagg - friend has lent me this and its been a perfect book to ease self back into reading!! Really caught up in the story, the different time periods and characters. I like the film but as usual the book is miles better!
Hymn To Her - Karen O'Brien - a collection of interviews with prominent female musos conducted in the 90s. Lent to me by Uni tutor so this needs to get read and returned quickly! I'm dipping into this at the mo and it's brilliant, like the women who were interviewed.
The Power Of Now - Eckhart Tolle - I need a bit of balance in my life at the mo, so I thought why not? Let's give this a go. Borrowed from the uni library so needs to be read soonish
So lets just read these and then crack on with the rest of the list  !!2014 Frugal Living Challenge

I've huts finished reading The Growing Pains of Adrian Albert Mole. It wasn't on my list of unreads as it was in my handbag when I counted. I bought it because I enjoyed the first diary and will be making an effort to read more about the trials and tribulations of Adrian as he gets older! Not sure what I'll read next. I'm on cub camp this weekend so will take something with me to read in my tent. I'll probably start it on the bus tomorrow though, whatever I choose!NSDs January - 3/8 2017 total - 3

Re. Adrian Mole - I love "The woman who went to bed for a year", I still feel saddened that Sue Townsend has died and there will be no more of her funny books....
I've just started Dancing with the Virgins by Stephen Booth, that one has been lurking on the shelf for at least 5 years...First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
I am really enjoying the book Accused by Mark Gimenez .
Ordered a second hand copy of The Colour of Law from Amazon last night ( for £2.01) but the order wasn't processed due to my credit card that, I had on the site, had expired!!! I was rather relieved though because this morning, when at a market, I spotted the same book for 30p!!! I quickly bought the book and then later removed the book from my order before updating my credit card details.
