  • I finished Someone Like Adele over the weekend and also read Panic Button by Frazer Lee which was a free Amazon Kindle download. It was a bit gory and far fetched in places but not a bad read. I think the film of the same story might be a bit too gory for me though so will give that one a miss.

I'm now reading Me Before You by JoJo Moyes which I've heard really good things about. I'm only about 40 pages into it at the moment but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Oops - bought another book! But it was with a book token so it doesn't count ;)! I can't believe new books cost so much! £8.99

I bought The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss which I've had my eye on for a while. I really didn't want to get another fantasy book but couldn't find anything else that looked any good. I'm quite picky, I enjoy historical fiction but am sick of the Tudors (except the Shardlake books!), I like books set abroad or in translation and I like an adventure, not too much romance and hate sad endings! Oh and I quite like something a bit challenging now and again. I like to escape. Anyone know of any books with adventures or travel that happen to 'normal' people?

I have a confession....I came home yesterday to find a rather large box from Amazon on my doorstep which may have contained 6 books that I ordered before starting this challenge...

On a different note, have started on the pile of "to be reads" and am currently about 20% through The Redbreast by Jo Nesbo. Enjoying it quite a lot so far!

    Hello there.

I've just found this thread and been reading some of the posts with great interest, and someone mentioned a list of 1001 books to read before you die. So I found it on google, then found an app :j, so now I have the list and a new challenge, and lots of ideas for my book group. So thankyou all very much :)and have fun reading!

Ps hello ljaneyr :) have you tried Random Acts of Heroic Love by Danny Schienman? Or Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall? I'd recommend both :)

    Hi Rosyq
I loved wolf hall, it really gave a different view of Cromwell! I think my Mum has Random acts so might give that one a try!

    Thanks :)

I've been trying to do the same thing! However have got sidetracked with my nordic noir obsession! Think I've read about 60 of the 1001 so far. Need to dig out the list again.

And blindtoast, I love anything Dave Gorman!

OK I've been through the list and I've read either 61 or 72 depending on which list you use, so I'm quite pleased with that. However the app says I won't manage to finish them all before... hmm. Oh well I can still try! So I've downloaded John Banville's The Sea and I'll give that a go when I've finished the 3 library books I got today :o

Also stayed up way too late last night finishing What Was Lost for book group, which was unexpectedly gripping, I'd recommend it :)

Finished 'The Redbreast' by Jo Nesbo so that's 1 down out of about a 100 books I have to read. Moving on to 'The Happiness Project' that I bought about a month ago. Lets see if it will actually help!
