Welcome again, PinotGrigio...nice to have you back.

I'm being awful about reading at the minute, but I'm just too ridiculously busy to do much...I will have to see what I can do.

Best of luck to the rest of you! :)

I have close to 700 books on my kindle :-0

In the past two weeks I've finish 3 books - 13 blue envelopes - very good and surprising, two week wait - absolutely fantastic - has the same characters as One Moment One Morning - stayed up past midnight reading it when I had work the next day (paid for that!) And Dear John - which I have just this minute finished! Back to my knitting now!
Using my phone to post - apologies in advance for any typos
  • I've now finished The Truth about Melody Brown which was really good, im now reading Madeline Wickham (Sophie Kinsella) 'The Wedding Girl', i'm on chapter 4, all good so far!

I was looking at Two week wait a while ago and couldn't decide whether it was the same characters so I'm glad you've cleared it up for me. Really liked one moment, one morning so will look out for this other one now. Thanks Sneezy

  • I'm def guilty of having far too many unread books!

At least a hundred or so. Most of the ones I read I pass on.

I also use the Kindle now which has a few hundred books on too.

Think I need a mass listing on amazon to clear out the cupboards. Hopefully get some sold and put money in the "rainy day" jar

I'm about half way through 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and have managed to reduce my Kindle list by over 300 with some seriously strict culling (anything I own in paperback anything which after reading reviews I didn't think I'd enjoy). Still have plenty to make a decision over cull/keep but its progress and magically the battery life has gone back to 2 weeks + from the 2 days I was getting at best!

I'm very impressed with your ruthlessness! I had a much smaller cull at my parents house - cleared a load of books i'd either read and didn't want to keep or didn't want to read - makes me wonder why I buy some books - obviously on offer at some point!

It took me ages to read the 1st half of Girl with the dragon tattoo - thought it was pretty boring - but then I got through the 2 and a half books after in about 3 weeks (and wanted more). Hope you're enjoying it.

It was the Kindle downloads I deleted - tree books are for keeps which is something of an issue now my Dad's making noises about wanting my room as an extra spare at home...

I watched the film of Girl with the oh before he went so kinda knew the first part would be slow as I found the film slow and even then it played with so much of the timeline to try and speed things up. Enjoying it though, at the moment am working my way through it a chapter at a time when I go to bed since I can sit up and read now I have it to myself. :T

  • Hi Guys, hope you don't mind if I join you?

I think this thread is a great idea and definitely something I could do with having a go at. I last bought a book last Friday and had slight buyer's remorse even as I walked out of the shop knowing that I have so much to read sitting at home. I decided then and there that I had to try and reduce the amount I have sitting waiting to be read.

Since then I've finised The Stag and Hen Weekend by Mike Gayle and Bones Under the Beach Hut by Simon Brett and am now reading A Walk In the Park by Jill Mansell.

As for exactly how many books I have to read, I dread to think! I do know that I have:

    - 25 books on the Kindle App on my phone
    - 25 books that have been passed on to me by friends
    - and several hundred books which I've bought, received as gifts or swapped on Read It Swap It (great site) over the years and never quite got around to reading.

So it's 2 down, several hundred to go...

I know for me not buying any more books until I've read that lot isn't particularly realistic so I'm hoping that I can restrict myself to one new book for every ten that I read (with the possible exception of any I need to get for my book club - although I've already got the next three months reads lined up).

I have a similar but much smaller issue with buying DVDs that then sit around unwatched for ages so I'll be heading over to that thread soon too.

I finished reading When God was a rabbit today - really enjoyed it and thought it ended well. Think I'm going to read Strangers on the 16:02 next - a quick reads book as that shouldn't take me too long.

Welcome Savingfor... Good luck with the challenge - don't worry you are not alone with your book and dvd addiction! :o

Thanks. So far so good, I've just finished the Jill Mansell book and managed to resist buying anything as I wandered around town yesterday.

Just about to start The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel by Deborah Moggach. I have high hopes for this as I saw the film a couple of weeks ago and really loved it.
