They didn't want mine either so the books I have read are on Green Metropolis - although if I go to town before they're sold I'll probably take them to a charity shop as I need to clear the space and at the moment they've just created another pile!! Same with the DVDs I've listed in places - though I can sell those to CEX which will at least give me some money!Twiglet0309 wrote: ». . . this Saturday the village church is having a "Books Galore" sale in the church hall. I'm very jealous of all these excellent sounding book sales that people are going to - where is this one? Wish my local church would do one!
Sessie - what is 77 Shadow Street like? I keep looking at it in the supermarket but am so far behaving myself and putting it back! But maybe one to look out for when/if I ever clear my shelf! I have read a couple of his and enjoyed them.No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Well February has been a slow reading month, I haven't even finished the one book I started yet:eek: just been too busy. Plus i gave in and brought 3 new books from a second hand stall, only £2.50 for all of them and two of them are part of my collections, a Dean Koontz one and a Kelley Armstrong one so I justified the purchase that way.
Happy reading:)Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Ooh, I know EXACTLY what you mean! I did really well last month and read 3 months, but this month I've been stupidly busy. I have been reading a long career book that is divided into small sections which are fast and easy to read, but I just don't seem to have the time to pick it up and finish it.
And there's another book I started last yeat and read about two-thirds of, but never finished. Honestly!
Eek! I just logged onto my library website and my book is WAAAY overdue and I've got a fine. Nooooo! Please call me 'Pickle'

blindtoast - sorry, only just seen your post - I don't get on every day.
To be honest, I would wait for 77 Shadow Street to come out in paperback or even until it gets to the library. It started out good but ... I have to say.... it's kind of dragging now...
I find myself skim-reading pages at a time as I can see it's just description overload and no movement to the plot. One of the things I always liked about Dean Koontz was his ability to paint a real picture with his descriptions but in this one he's taking pages at a time to describe - say - someone's hair or the layout of a room.
I've put it back down again as I was getting frustrated with it. My reading time is so precious as I don't get enough of it.
I've started a series of four books actually aimed at "the X-box generation" (of which I am truly NOT a member, being ... ahem... waaaaay past 21!). The first is called "Gone" and the basic premise is all of a sudden, everyone over 15 is just "gone". Have only read a few chapters but I'm looking forward to a nice long read tonight as my children are staying with my parents.

Thanks for the review - sounds like one to miss - or at least wait for.
I've been looking at the Gone series for months but have so far been very good at not buying it (as I'm trying to clear my shelves a bit and I've not found it at a bargain price yet!) but it does look right up my street so I'd be interested to know what you thought of it.No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Really liked "One moment, one morning" - very enjoyable. I have also tried to read "Room" and oly got to about page 3 - will have another go soon though - sometimes I have to be in the mood for certain books.
I've just finished "The last family in England" a story of a family told from the dogs point of view - quite sad but very well written and an interesting perspective of life - makes you look at dogs in a different way!
Think I'm going to read "When God was a rabbit" next.No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.
