THe good: I sold £60 worth of books to Zagger and have more on Amazon.
The bad: I bought the two Dark Tower books I was missing and the Game of Thrones series up to and including A Dance With Dragons.
The second good: I only have these 3 and another book to read....then I am bookless....

It will be a very long time before I become bookless - I must have 250 -300 books in the attic that I haven't read !! If I managed to read a book a month it would take me 25 years to read them all !! I'd be 75 !!

    I just love buying books.

Even going to the library I have the full quota of 15 books plus I even have books out on my DS's card. I'm a bad case

Every time I go to the library I promise myself I will only take books back, but I always see another books that I Like the look of.

I must go into the attic and clear out some of the books I'm sure there are some I won't want to read.

  • I need views on The Time travellors wife (before I buy it).
I liked the film but got SOO confused in bits and really had to think about it. Am scared to read the book if its as disjointed as the film. however everyone I've spoken to says the book is brill and they are too scared to watch the film incase it ruins the book.

Has anyone seen film and read book. Is it worth me getting??

I loved the book - found it it bit hard to follow but only because the ages change and since the beginning of each chapter told you how old they both were and the date it was just a case of flicking to the beginning of the chapter each time I forgot! Apart from that I remember it flowing well. I would definately recommend it.

I liked the film and, as I thought I would, found the changes in their ages easier to follow as it was visual. As in all books to film adaptations things were missed out so I usually find the books make more sense as they contain the intricate details that wouldn't work or there isn't time for in a film.
I didn't enjoy it and gave up half way through, I found it too much like hard work

I absolutely loved her next book "Her Fearful Symmetry".

I think I've got Her Fearful Symmetry to read somewhere but I've not spoken to anyone that has read it - glad to hear someone say it's good :)

that's probably what I needed to hear blindtoast I think I'd find it easy enough to follow when the chapters tell you their ages.

will look out for it....... I don't do full price if I can help it. :D

    Afternoon all!

Wow Testament of Youth is proving to be slow going. I've been reading it for days and the war hasn't even started yet. I don't know if it's because it's real life and I love escapism, or because I don't like WW1 (makes me cry) but I'm not enjoying it :(. Feel like I should read it though as my Mum gave it to me as a present because she thought I would like it. I don't know why but I feel guilty for not likeing it and will feel even worse if I don't read it!

My 'to read' pile just got bigger - but don't worry I didn't buy anything! Just found 'The incredible history of humans in Britain' amongst my Dad's books which is right up my street with paleolithic fossil remains from the last ice age... OK I'll stop now before you all nod off :rotfl: Just got to get through this huge book before I can start that one...

  • Finished Diary of a witness on Saturday - not a bad book but probably wouldn't read it again.

Think my next one will be "The last family in England" by Matt Haig. Loved "The Radleys" which he wrote and found it a quick one to read due to the very short (sometimes just a page) chapters so hopefully this one will not disappoint
