Hey all!
Have just put six books into the box at work - I was rather honest with myself yesterday when appraising my bookshelf and picked out a few I know I won't ever actually get round to reading. Problem is, I get offered books by other people and I feel rude saying no to ones that aren't really "me" in case they don't offer me any more!!
I also put a load of CDs on zapper yesterday and a few books that I've read recently to bring the total a bit higher. Am hoping to get a box from work today to send them in so it's all profit!
Can't remember if I said but I'm currently reading "Me Before You" which is about a guy who becomes a paraplegic after an accident and his mother gets him a "befriender" who is a local girl. I'm enjoying it as more threads are now coming into the story rather than the predictable "they-don'tg-get-on-then-realise-it's-love" (SOOO hoping it doesn't end like that, will be v disappointed). Also reading the new Dean Koontz (the man can do no wrong, like Stephen King for me) which is also really good.
V tempted to get this World War Z you're all talking about but I will add it to my wish list until my shelves are considerably lighter - I will NOT fail my promise this time!!:D
Time to peruse the Old Style and Freebies boards until I start work at 8.30!
Happy reading all!

Morning all!
I've just finished A Feast for Crows which is book 4 in the Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series. I have to say it is probably my least favourite of the series so far but still a brilliant read. The books are told from the point of view of different characters with each chapter starting with the name of the character that it focuses on. This book added a load of new characters and focused on events in one part of the story, leaving out some of my favourite characters. All the way through I was thinking 'What about Tyrion, Jon Snow, Dany...?' Then at the end there was a note from the author explaining it all...so now I can't wait for the next book A dance with Dragons to come out in paperback next month! I've got a book token so it doesn't count honest!
If you're into fantasy books I would wholeheartedly recommend the series, if you're not into fantasy I would definitely give them a try. They are so detailed and descriptive, the world feels so real you can smell and taste it. They are all long books but I never notice, if I let myself I could read one in a day but I always try to save them and make them last longerI used to gently tease my brother about the books he read
until I read Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb just over a year ago and now I'm completely hooked!
Next on the list is Testament of Youth about Vera Brittain. It was a present and has been on my 'to-read' shelf longer than the others because I find anything to do with war makes me cry, but it's worth nearly £2 on zapper so I've finally got the motivation to give it a try!
Happy reading everyone!"It is often said that before you die your life passes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living." Terry PratchettBought our house 2012Married 2015

Has anyone else read the Belle De Jour (secret diary of a call girl) series??
I read the first 2 over a year ago and had picked up the 3rd off my shelf to read. have had to put it down after only a couple of months (it is month'd rather then chaptered) as I was just da ja vu'ing the whole way thro. but I can't put my finger on whether is is a) very very similar to the last one, b) the last one with a new title (have got rid of the old one so can't check) c) I have already read it.
So now I am on Madeline Wickim (sophie kinsella) Sleeping Arrangements.
I need views on The Time travellors wife (before I buy it).
I liked the film but got SOO confused in bits and really had to think about it. Am scared to read the book if its as disjointed as the film. however everyone I've spoken to says the book is brill and they are too scared to watch the film incase it ruins the book.
Has anyone seen film and read book. Is it worth me getting??loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
