I've been over, but alas, there is nobody home: I think they all have lives or something! ;)

I have two questions. You might not be able to help with the first as it's about international selling: I have a fairly expensive French book I want to sell, and for obvious reasons I want to put it on the French site as well. I listed it on the British site and ticked the 'International' delivery button, but when I check the French site, it's not listed there. Have I done something wrong, or is there some sort of error?

Also, I am trying to sell a cookery book. It is new, but has been sat on a shelf for a while. It seems in perfect condition apart from a few marks on the cover (literally one or two on the front, and a few more on the back), and if I'm being really, really picky the back dust cover has been turned up every so slightly at the bottom, and looks a tiny bit turned up. That's being really fussy, but I don't know how fussy to be in the description as I'm a newbie and I want to be honest, but not to the point where I'm pointing out faults that others haven't. Would I sell it as 'new' or 'used - like new'?

    Thanks for the help! x

I think to sell to the French site you'd have to list it on the .fr site - unlike ebay amazon isnt totally interlinked as far as I know.

Personally I'd put it used -as new but if its a slightly oversized book you need to keep an eye on the postage costs so that you don't end up losing money if it sells.

The French book is a paperback, but a big one, but I'm not sure what I can do to overcome any postal losses. Surely all I can do is list it at the same lowest price as whoever else is selling and just take any losses, especially if I'm sending from abroad? (Naturally I want to make as much as I can from it, but I need to get rid of it as I just don't have the space to keep it.) All advice welcome! :)

Did you mean that for the cookbook?

Yes I meant for the cook book (sorry pet boy driving me nuts tonight).

You can see the final amount you'll get if the book sells before you confirm the listing, best bet is to check the postal costs on RM and see if its worth while - if tend to go with if it loses me money after postage it may as well go to the charity shop.

There's no way it will lose me money, it will just mean less money recupperated from the cost. Phew! Although, like with the cookery book I'm not 100% sure how to describe it: the teeniest, tiniest turns to the corners and some sort-of marks to the cover (if I'm being picky). It's new though, and has just been sat on a shelf for ages.

New/Used - like new: which do you think?

Thanks for your patience - don't want to mess it up for myself on the first transactions!

I think I'd go for used - like new, but if im honest I wouldnt worry too much about which you choose as the amazon feedback means pretty much nothing - I never look at it when I'm buying nor even notice if my buyers bother to leave me any.

Thanks so much for the advice, scubaangel. I admit, I do pay attention, but I'm quite new to it all over on that site.

    Thanks once again! :T

Have you double checked what your books are going for on ebay? I've sold a couple of books that I won in competitions, and both times I got slightly more on ebay than amazon were selling them for, and ebays fees are lower.
Not always the case, but might be worth checking out.

No problem, tbh its a good reminder to me to get on with sorting my books out again, as I collected a box of them from Dads house when we went north which now need listing on amazon and relisting on greenmet as my original account is still on holiday settings until I can get the rest of the boxes down here.

Good stuff. Perhaps we can have a 'who can sell the most books' competition to spurt us on. I'm only getting rid of these books as I bought them for some studying, but know that I won't use them now that it's finished.

The only question now is can I get the money from the Amazon.fr sales put in my UK bank account? (Or Paypal, at least.)
