Hi everyone, :xmassign: from me too.

I got that one from Santa too. Also got

Memoirs of a Fruitcake Chris Evans
    Alan Sugar's autobiography
    The Red Queen Philippa Gregory
    The Family Martina Cole

Nowhere to go and nothing to do but read, bliss :)

I agree.......a great time to indulge in a great book - let us know what you think once you've read them.

Santa didn't bring me any books, but he knows I already have too many, so it was a silent mutual agreement.

Am so near the end of my 25th book: I'm so excited - I'll be DELIGHTED if/when I hit my target! :D

    Such a looong thread!

Anyhow (Not spam or troll, I promise..)

    but FREE BOOKS!
    Well, eBooks at any rate!

With Books, they are copyrighted material nd the copyright only lasts for a certain amount of years (differs in different countries). When this copyright expires, the book is free to be distributed in any form.. normally at this point your paying for the paper etc.

    http://www.gutenberg.org

Project Gutenburg has thousands of books just like this in various languages, as an example, if you click 'Advanced Search' and 'Top 100' give you a good idea of what people have been getting. I'm currently reading 'A picture of Dorian Gray' - For free and perfectly legal!

I know people like the feel of a book, and the smell of the pages, and as do I... but moving house with books.. they're bloody heavy!

Also, if you own a copy of a book, you can have it in any format (Similar rules apply to music) so as long as you own the book, and legally have a PDF/DOC/MOBI(Kindle) version of it on your computer.

  • I'm setting a target of reading 60 books in 2011, fairly ambitious but I tend to read about 5 books on holiday etc so hopefully can manage it! Think I have about 50 unread ones so NOOOO trips to waterstones for me until I get on top of that! :j

Wow, that IS ambitious - best of luck! Am going to aim for another 25 and see if I can beat it. I only started my challenge last year in February, so I might beat it. :)

Santa behaved himself for me this year - no books, but he did arrange for my family to give my OH a couple of books which I'll enjoy reading too.

    And I didn't download another 40 free kindle books....honest. :o

But I have read four books on the kindle in the last 4 days thanks to being Chauffeured up and down the country by the boy. Wouldn't recommend any of them as they were freebies by authors I'd never heard of.

  • im going to set a goal of a book a month for next year so that means anything above 12 will be a bonus.
I have been good and given 5 of my recently reads away to rellys and told them to read and pass on, that way my shelves are getting a little leaner.
