Inapickle your books are certainly not ordinary !!

Might explain why they haven't been read yet. ;) All the 'ordinary' ones seem to get read a lot quicker!

Just finished reading The visitor by Lee Child. Really good, I couldn't put it down towards the end! Have just asked my mum to order me another one of his books for my christmas present :D

Last night started The Redeemer by Jo Nesbo. First few chapters are promising!

I'm coming to pay my penance now...we have The Book People in work tomorrow, there are several of their sets in the current catalogue I want so will probably buy while I can get them without paying postage.

I was soooo good, I got to work and they'd sold out of the sets I wanted so I didn't buy anything. :A

i enjoyed it, i got it because of how much i loved 'the future homemakers of america' by her.

the unfortunates is quite sad in places but other bits had me chuckling to myself while i was reading. its written as if the main character (Poppy) is telling her lifestory, and what a life she had!. id say its worth a read if you like laurie Graham.

am nw reading a mothers sin by linda paige, quite a gritty story about the daughter of a prostitute who does not wish to follow in the family trade

I loved "Future Homemakers", it was the first book I'd read by Laurie Graham. Havent read the Unfortunates - it's on my list now, thanks!

They both sound good - also have been put on my to read list

    Oooh, you naughty people, !;)

Finished Rush Home Road by Lori Lansens, which I thought was excellent and thoroughly enjoyed. Have just started The Wife's Tale, also by her. First few chapters are promising!
Have bee getting all my books from the library lately - saved me a fortune. Hoping Santa will bring me some book tokens though!;)

Have finished 'The QI Book of the Dead'. It was really interesting as it comprised of short biographies of many people who have left a notable legacy behind them (an idea, an invention, notable works of art or inventions etc.) Some of the people were famous, some were not, and it was very hard to put down.

    Thoroughly recommended. :T :T :T :T :T

Next up, 'The QI Book of Animal Ignorance'. See a theme here? ;)

I'm doing well at this. Still loads to read though. Just finished The Diary of an Ordinary Woman, can't remember who it's by. It's a fictional diary from about 1912 to the end of the last century.
Now I'm reading Cool for Cats which is set in the late 70's in the music business. Quite amusing.
Next is a book called Tully. No idea what it's about but I did buy it at some point........

That's on my TBR list, so I think I'll read it next, after the two I'm reading now.

Had intended to read Jeffery Deaver's The Burning Wire next, but I got given a book last week. We were in town last Sunday and a guy came up to me and said: "would you like a free book ?". What a stooooooopid question !!:D He had a big pile of them and was handing them out. So, being very crafty, I walked round the block and got another one for a work colleague.

It's a new James Patterson (one of my favourite authors) called Witch and Wizard. It's aimed at kids, but is quite good so far, and has very short chapters, so is good for short reads during quiet moments at work.

In the front is a voucher (to use in Tesco) for £5 off the next installment in the series, which I shall give to someone so they can buy it for me for my birthday. Mmmm, not sure if that's cheating, but I haven't bought any new books lately.

The book fairies must have been smiling on you that day - you lucky thing!;) That has never happened to me, I need to move to your town!
I have "the Visitor" coming as a swap on RiSi, looking forward to it arriving.:)

I'm reading the latest Val McDermid - Trick of the Dark. She's one of my favourite authors, and this one is livingup to her previous high standard. Its her usual well written, cleverly plotted thriller. Fab!

  • Well, they say you get what you pay for ! The free James Patterson book, Witch and Wizard was an okay read, but the story ended exactly where it came in, and you have to buy the next book in the series to find out what's going to happen.

It's a bit like the first Lord of the Rings film, where you can't believe it's just ended, and wonder if the rest of the story is on the other side of the disc.:rotfl:
