finished "Friday Nights" so that can go back on the doctors shelf next time im there, started "a brief history of tractors" of my TBR shelf

I loved "history of tractors", Marina Lewycka's other books are also brilliant.

Currently reading Salmon Fishing in the Yemen by Paul Torday, didnt fancy it at first, but it's really good and reminds me of Marina Lewycka's style for some reason. Recommended!!;)

    Afternoon All

well since my last post ....... I have read three and bought one
Two were old favourites that I reread ....the last Harry potter in readiness for the film and The Way through The Woods.... Morse (Colin Dexter) Its like being with an old friend.

Then i read the "Spencers by charles Spencer (dianas brother) which was dry to start with but fascinating in the end. So many historical figures.....

Bought Finding happiness by the Abbot of Worth Christopher Jamison but have decided to read Kings and Queens of England by Alison Weir first, as its on the top of my to read list!

Happy Reading on this sunny afternnon

God I am terrible at this challenge..two more in to admit to. The Russian Concubine and The Concubines Secret, in my defence I was out mystery shopping and they fit the reimbursement budget after I'd got a DVD I've been after for ages. Plus I've read and got a copy of TCS at the house up north so have whacked that one straight on to greenmet (not worth putting on amazon).

I've also started reading one of the books which was lying around in the staff room at work, rather than taking one of my own books in with me which is obviously not helping the cause. :o
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

  • Still no books bought, but my unread pile doesn't seem to be going down any, maybe its because my MIL keeps lending me books saying I simply must read them :D

I'm on Little Earthquakes by Jennifer Weiner at the mo, which isn't taking up a lot of brain power.

It's mainly about pregnancy and motherhood, and I can't quite work out if reading it is making me broody or whether I should be counting my blessings that I'm not dealing with the issues that the main characters are

Finished this today! Excellent and unusual book - good political satire! :T:T:T:T:T
This was from the library, so no spends, however my book pile is not decreasing as I keep seeing books I want to read in the library. At least they're free!
Next book will be Fever of the Bone by Val McDermid - love her books!

  • I have, but I can't be bothered to list them all !

I have been positively angelic.:A No new books since my last post and I am randomly selecting books from the TBR pile, as well as reading the ones in my must read pile. I'm currently only reading one book, Robert A Heinlein's Expanded Universe, which despite being an avid RAH fan, I'm finding a bit hard to get in to.

I've not read only one book at a time for years, but I've been trying to lose the paunch people have been (so rudely:cool:) commenting on, so am watching DVDs while on the walking machine in my den. Combined with giving up the wine I used to drink while reading of an evening, I've lost 8lbs and saved, er, well, rather more than I expected. I think Mrs L has her eye on me now to stay off it for good. I keep telling myself this can only be good ! More money for books, I say :rotfl:

my reasoning behind listing them was really so i can print it off and i can then see at a glance what exactly is up there and can decide wha i want to read next without having to trawl through them all. (they are double stacked on the shelf so 1/2 of them cant be seen)

it is quite depressing that if say i read an average of a book or 2 a month it will still take me forever to clear the shelf. so its not going to be the fastest decluttering ive ever done;)
