I must have at least 50 books that I have bought and not read - I was terrible a couple of weeks ago, I accompanied my mum to Radiotherapy and bought 7 books in the charity shop there!! They were only 50p each and I keep telling myself its for a worthy cause LOL - however for £3.50 thats less than 1 new book!! Anyway one of my jobs next week is to sort out a big bag to take down there in return!! Will try not to browse while I'm there
Just finished The Pi**ed off Parents Club by Mink Elliot which I really enjoyed, and am just starting Jill Mansell's Take a chance on Me. As you can see I am a chick Lit fan, but will read most things!! This board is now giving me lots of new books I want to read:rotfl:
Welcome! Sounds like you are def one of us! Like you - I get loads of ideas for books to read from here. I note them down and since I've re-discovered the library, I order them from there. Problem is, the "to read" pile isnt decreasing! :rotfl:
At least Im not spending anything , although Im a sucker for the charity books , they have one in my doctors waiting room, talk about temptation!;)

Hi guys,
Been a few weeks since I've been on. Have to confess to buying Jo Nesbos new book The Snowman. Currently about halfway through and its actually pretty good. I've never read her before but would be tempted to read more. I like her characters and her writing style so just hope the rest of the book is as good!Challenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j

Me again, brought a few chocolate raisins and some cheese straws we had leftover from our picnic today (IN the house! children don't really care WHERE so long as there's FOOD!). Dig in folks!
Am currently reading Michael J Fox's autobiography Lucky Man. It belonged to my sister and has come to me via mum so is doing the rounds. I'm pretty sure it's been ghosted as it's really well-written. I don't mean that as if to say MJ Fox is thick but it's written with a writer's mind IYSWIM. One of those where you read a sentence or a paragraph and stop to digest it and think, "There is no way that could have been put any better"! He is very honest and at times self-deprecating (but not in an "aww shucks me".. kind of way, just facing up to the excess of Hollywood that he fell into before his diagnosis of Parkinsons).
I'm going to read a bit more soon, just having a quick flick around my subscribed topics and realised I haven't stuck my oar in here for a while.
Upstairs in the "small room" (!) I have Sue Townsend's Public Confessions of a ... gah, can't remember! Anyhow, she's the woman who wrote Adrian Mole and she got a column in the Sainsbury's magazine and this book is a collection of those. They are those "you'll never guess what happened to me this week/my thoughts on <topic of the time the article was written>/that sort of thing". It's good as they are just three or four pages long so I can dip into it when the children are behaving downstairs and I nip up for a tinkle!!
Oh darn it.. I was going to leave without confessing but.. I can't.... I'm so ashamed fellow bookaholics. It has been WEEKS AND WEEKS since my last purchase but... I have sinned. I bought some Xmas presents from The Book People last week and I MAY... MAY... have ordered the new Jeremy Clarkson book (only £4.99 in my defence!! £10 in supermarkets and much more in bookshops!) for myself. I just LOVE his books, think he's really witty and says what a lot of us WANT to say but are too.... BRITISH to say! Saving grace (and I think this is the harder bit to admit in case you think I'm a really bad person) but... I'm going to read it holding it really carefully (taking the jacket cover off) and then give it to someone as a Xmas present!!So again I ask, does this purchase count??

Personally, I would let you off with that -I've done it myself:rotfl:
I gave my Mum John Barrowmans book last Xmas - she couldnt get into it and gave me it back and it was still brand new. I then read it verrry carefully so there was no damage and I gave it for a birthday present last month ( there, that's my confession!)

Don't get my wrong i love reading, and am rarely never without a book in my bag for the bus journey to uni/work, but i just have so many to get through!!

Can you see a theme here?! lol0 -
So i finished the Van Allen Legacy, really want to buy the 5th book off Amazon!! But i am resisting, instead i started Burned. I read the rest of this series so long ago, i've totally forgotten what is going on, but i am slowly getting back into it!0

I read the wonderful Wuthering Heights as my eldest DS is doing it for AS Level. I had totally forgotten what a great book it was (the last time I read it was for my own O'levels.) :T:T:T:T:T
Happy reading0 -
Finished Jill Mansell's Take a chance on me last night - actually really enjoyed it once I'd got into it! About to start Debbie Macomber's 16 Lighthouse Road - still on the slushy chick lit trail!!
Did have a nose in Mr T at the books, but now the have gone up to £8 for two are less appealing - however have added the Alan Sugar and Michael McIntyre Bio's to my Xmas list!!
