The Bad Mummies Thread

I"m on 'garden leave' until the middle of June and then I will be offically redundant. I've got the chance to go on a cheapie Turkey holiday to take my mind off being made redundant as I'll be away when the dreaded day dawns. I've never been away without my kids and I feel a really bad mummy! I've bought so many 'little surprises' and arranged so many treats out for them and my mum who will be minding them that I won't have any money left for the holiday!!!!0

I am a bad mummy today especially as I am such a grump due to being fed up of being caught in the middle of family disputes! got a 3 1/2 yr old and 2 1/2 yr old
But i regularly don't give them vegetables with their dinner if I can't be bothered to...
I formula fed both my boys & will likely FF baby three too as I know breastfeeding will fail...
I have brainwashed them into helping with the washing by moving it from washer to dryer for me...
I have just let them have a sweetie before dinner which they helped themselves to from the fridge...
They both had a dummy...
I get more grumpy with them than I should do
I forget to brush their teeth...
I used wipes and disposable nappies...
They don't get bathed every night...
DS1 co-slept when first born and then when he wouldn't go into his own room/bed after six months, I did let him cry...
They eat more biscuits than they should...
I put them to bed when I am fed up of their fighting and noisy play...
I let them watch too many cartoons/tv...
I don't buy/give them enough fruit...
Probably a whole lot more that I should do as a "good" mummy but that I don't do.
Thank you for this thread as it has helped cheer me up a little more... :TBSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0 -

I go away every year without my kids (and husband), so I guess I'm a bad mum too.
I'm also a bad mum because....
I once let my daughter pick up a biscuit from the carpet and eat it . That was 10 years ago, and no ill effects so far. MIL never has forgiven me.
I let my daughter occassionally eat infront of the TV as a treat, horror of horrors
I once told my daughter at a party that she was horrible when she was having a mega tantrum, I'll never forget the look of shock on everyones face, and I feel very guilty to this day. I don't think she can remember though
After a lot of rows and tantrums, I finally gave in to let her having a bath every other night instead of every night (as long as she has a wash) :shhh:
There are plenty more examples of me being a bad mother but I'm trying to forget them as I am olympic standard at feeling guilty.

Everyone of us on here is a bad mummy for one reason or another and therefore shouldn't be judging one of our own kind, even if there are things posted that we don't agree with
There is a diff between being a bad mummy and neglect though. Smoking and I assume getting drunk when pregnancy both feel are disgsting. k the tin of pineapple is a bad mummy accident but funny? dont see how its funny
As for allowing your child to put a young baby in a pram and push it around a bumpy field its obvious it will fall out thats irresponsible
This is the only post Ive seen that Ive judged on this threadWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
.
I slap them when they are horrible.. it makes such a pretty sound
I shower them because it makes me laugh when they are terrified of the spray.. it is ONLY water after all! They are just being silly!!
 pure evil! did you know that smacking is illegal? a tap on hand fair enough but liking the sound and enjoying scarying them by the shower :eek:Wins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -

My contribution towards DD being independant.
We have a play park a stones throw from us which I don't mind DD playing at without me there, as long as there's plenty of people about, but I don't want her crossing the road alone, not even the narrow bit one car width in front of our house but of course I don't know what time she'll return from park, so in order to get round this proble,. I open the living room window and tell DD she has to yell.:D Then I pop out and see her across the road.
The other day she was asked by a classmates mother if she wanted seeing across the road safely and DD said I just stand here and shout, so I cam eout and the child's mother told me what she'd said, thinking she was kidding and I told her ermmmm no.0 -

When I said this thread had made me roar with laughter, I was referring to other people's previous posts not my own - it's women bonding - and demonstrates that everyone is just trying to get by doing their best and there's no such thing as the perfect mother, and judging by the number of confession posts I guess other mums feel the same way.
Yes it is bad to smoke when pregnant but when I had mine it wasn't so shocking, it was discouraged but you weren't condemned to eternal damnation if you didn't quit, and OK any is bad but we're talking 5 a day here not 40. I did used to go to the pub because that was what we'd always done with our friends but I was never drunk thank you and once I had my first son I barely touched a drop for about 10 years. The tin of pineapple, yes that was a nasty accident that shouldn't have happened but in a distracted moment - perhaps like your own child cutting their head open falling off the booster seat? And the pushchair incident, sounds a lot worse than it actually was, it was a playing field with soft flat grass not bumpy ground - were you there?? With 3 lively boys in 4 years, working and looking after a hubby with health problems I probably made many more ill judged decisions and had plenty of distracted moments.
If you find comfort in feeling I was an awful mother and therefore you're somehow superior then carry on with my blessing - as I said at the end of my original post my boys are grown up, healthy and normal - would you prefer me to list the things that I think made me a 'good mummy'? how long have you got? I feel petty correcting your assumptions but I am a stickler for accuracy.
Oh and chocolate before dinner - never

My mum must have been bad then....
Letting us out without sunscreen
Letting us out to play all day and only coming in for lunch and tea
Letting us east with dirty hands
Letting us make mud pies
Smacking us if we were naughty (there was 5 of us, odds on someone had been naughty. Taught us a decent amount of respect though)
Letting us sleep in tents
Letting us climb trees
Letting me go around for an evening when I'd broke my wrist (in her defense, parents didn;t drive or have a phone, but she did take me to the GP who said go to hospital)
Apart from that, I'm happy, healthy, well-adjusted and have a healthy respect for my elders.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

Gosh Ladies
Think I had better make some confessions too lol!
My boys were BF (only because I couldnt be doing with sterilising)
Both boys co-slept until they went into "big beds"
Both of them can make their own breakfast much to my MIL's disapproval they can make scrambled eggs, toast, hot chocolate with the aid of the microwave
They have both been taught to iron some of their own clothes - I wash and iron once, they iron them the second time!
They were both weaned early as they were both hungry!
DS1 used to eat bits of dog food (dried I hasten to add lol!) out of the bowl, the HV watched him one day and commented that he would be fine as it was sterile already :rotfl:
Both of them went through the stage of eating weird stuff for breakfast, they have been known to have ice cream - my view was as long as it was something they were eating they would come out of the other side of it.
They tell me they are THE most deprived children as they dont have televisions in their rooms - when they have finished their education they can have one (if they go to Uni thats only 21!!)
I dont tidy up their bedrooms behind them
I make them help with the chores - they can both load a dishwasher, hoover and dust, they have even been known to clean the bathroom now and then.
At 13 and 11 they are both big strapping lads and so far apart from being traumatised from not having a tv in their room they seem to be ok.
We all do the best we can with the tools we have, some days those tools are not so available as others lol, and so ice cream for breakfast IS acceptable!Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0
