We bought a Golf Plus in September - considerably discounted on top of the scrappage price through carfile. We did originally go for a standard Golf but had forgotten how low and small it was :) The Golf Plus is great for our dodgey backs, no bending to get in and out, lots of room for our mutts and we have the SE model which has lots of goodies, including the very scary park assist - which Ive not used yet, cant bring myself to take my hands off the wheel and let it park itself.

Try some of the brokers like carfile to see what you can get off for a brand new one and compare that with the year old ones. But the options you list seem very diverse in quality and price?

No, just that Kia have not included all makers, they have missed out some of the smaller manufacturers, one of which gives a 5 year warranty.

All cars require an MOT three years after the date of first registration, it makes no difference how long the warranty is.

But I thought you didn't need an MOT on a new car until after the 3 years warranty was up?

Warranty and MOT are not linked.

Nothing to do with the warranty length, just the statutory age for an MOT. You will need to MOT any car after 3 years.

Just went to look at that warranty table - surprised Citroen and Peugeot only offer 2 year warranties. Also looked at the Kia prices - surprised again, I thought they were all in 4 figures - lol - I dont think Id pay £16k for one.

The thing about comparing advertised up to 1 year old used car prices on forecourts vs. new is that the dealer really wants you to buy new, demonstrate low depreciation and creates that illusion with overpriced cars on the forecourt... that will one day get shift in some "special reductions" sale when the stock needs to be turned over.
Search more generally for 1 year old prices on the same car and you'll find something like the real market price.
As an example, 1 year old Ford Focus Zetec on dealer forecourt for nearly £13,500, plenty of the same car cierca £12,000 at dealers advertised in autotrader.
Decent discount from new on an essentially unused pre-registered car looks attractive if you can get one.

How long will you have the car?
    3 years?
Might be worth comparing 3 years of depreciation on cars your considering vs. 3 years of lease payments. Sometimes leasing is cheaper and it doesn't tie up you cash.

    matt1987,

I'm glad that you're happy with your purchase, but it's a cheap, plastic & nasty interior, coupled with a "oh look another Fiesta *sigh*" exterior.

edit; !!!!!! is it with the people on your street? Do they have no imagination & originality? I see a VW Beetle and a Mini - on the same drive! Both very naff motors!
