  • Hello all,

I emailed my bank (HSBC) three weeks ago asking them to reconsider my bank charges case in light of financial hardship at the time of the charges (~2005-6) as per the latest advice on this site, giving them two weeks to repond. They acknowledged my email the next day, saying they would forward it to the 'relevant department'. After two weeks I had heard nothing more so I emailed again asking for a response. I have heard nothing back. Is it now time to forward my complaint to the FOS?

    Any advice much appreciated!

You cannot go to the FOS until 8 weeks have elapsed or that you have had a final response letter from the bank.

I've taken the first steps to getting my bank charges back with HBOS but have just taken my first mortgage with them in the past few days. Do you think I should continue with my claim, or stop incase they cancel my mortgage? HBOS had the best mortgage deal, otherwise I would have went elsewhere. I no longer bank with HBOS.

Apologies if this has been posted before, I'm new to this and have been reading info for ages and couldn't see an answer

    Thanks

Mortgage is a separate agreement and they would not cancel your mortgage solely because you reclaimed bank charges.

    Thanks for your reply, natweststaffmember.

Do you mean 8 weeks from my email of three weeks ago? To clarify, my claim was put on hold during the court case, after which I recieved a letter from HSBC inviting me to respond within 8 weeks (or my case would be closed). It was this letter that I was responding to in my email.

    Thanks again.

In that case, yes it is now 5 weeks but if they give you a final response prior to that then you can go to the FOS earlier than that.

  • can you please tell me if i can still claim bank charges if i did not repley back to the bank within the eight week period
  • Hi Guys,

Not sure I'm in the right place so apologies if I'm not! I bank with Lloyds TSB and so far have gotten nowhere with them in claiming back approx £2,500 of bank charges. I have gone down the financial hardship route for genuine reasons but this seems to have been totally ignored. Has anyone had any success or am I just extremely unlucky??

:mad:Yes im with you on this one love. I was rejected by Lloyds 10 days ago and have put forward my claim to the Financial Ombs ppl. They say they will be looking my claim within 10days. Will keep you updated.:(
