HPI is the most well known. About £20 for one check.

As posted you need an inspection though to determine the damaged area - HPI cannot help over that, just whether or not it has been written off.

I paid £24 through HPI check and everything came back fine.

The accident was just on the front side of the driver side which is repairable.

    Thanks a lot

So the chassis rails are straight and not twisted?

No ripples where the engine/subframe mounts are?

Same with the steering rack mountings.

My mechanic who looks after our current cars is happy that nothing is wrong with the car.

He will be carrying out the work for me.

    Thanks

    hi
I did a check with autotrader yesterday and it costs £20. however, the report is insured for up to £30000 as well so this is the difference between the cheap alternatives I think. if someone else does the check and own the report and its wrong and you bought the car, then you would not be compensated. that was my understanding of how it works. my report showed up a credit agreement outstanding which the dealer did not mention. details of the company and credit type was given so i could chase up myself. hope this helps.

Anyone got a free check left willing to help out?

  • Hi all

We are in the process of selling our car and had someone call who was interested. They called back a little while later to tell us that they had done an HPI check and it came back as a write off and that it had been stolen. Neither were true but to make sure we did a check through Autotrader and also HPI.com both of which came back showing the car was clear. I am not sure what to do now because someone somewhere has put in false information about my car. Does anyone out there have any ideas as to what I should do.

If you did a proper HPI check not a mickey mouse cheapo one and its clear then the caller was lying and its not recorded anywhere.

Im interested in your car but only willing to pay half its true value because it may breakdown, I did an HPI and it says the engine is knackered and you don't look after it.
