When you pay for a proper HPI check, you are paying for a guaranteed reply. If it turns out a mistake you will be compensated.

What will you do if these cheap HPI checks are scams and you end up buying a "clean" car actually owned by a finance company etc??

I don't mind paying for a proper check. The car I am buying is a cat d.

I want to know if it still finance on it, if the milage of 31k is genuine

And if the damage part was just the driver side?

What company can I use that will give me all that information?

You probably need an inspection by an engineer to determine the exact area that was damaged.

I have already got my mechanic check the car and know exactly how much it will cost to repair the damage.

There is no other damage!

Can you please just name a few good car check companies that will do all what I have stated in my other post

HPI is the most well known. About £20 for one check.

As posted you need an inspection though to determine the damaged area - HPI cannot help over that, just whether or not it has been written off.

HARSA you will not get the level of information you are looking for. They are simply classified and sold on - a huge source of income now for car insurance companies. If you really want to buy a fixer upper, much better to buy direct (not via the website) from the few still selling at these auctions.

Lots of written off cars get a new bumper to cover the dented front or rear and thats the extent of any repairs.

You need to know what your buying. If you dont know what and howto check then get a professional check or walk away.
