  • Do you have anything else you can put in a pie?

You could just make some more (apple, vegetables, meat, anything) and freeze them for another time.

  • Hi

How about making Palmiers with either basil pesto or sun dried tomato pesto.
Use about 9oz (250g) puff pastry. Roll it out thinly into a rectangle (8in by 14in)
Spread the pesto, some finely chopped olives if liked and sprinkled parmesan.
Roll the pastry from each end so the ends meet in the middle. Wrap in clear film and chill for 30 mins.

Preheat oven to 200c, 400F, gas 6. Cut the pastry roll into thin slices and place on a baking sheet. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes until golden then leave to cool.

    Yummy with packed lunches.

  • Taplady where did you buy it ? I've been on the look out for all butter puff pastry for ages.

Here's an idea (less posh version of palmiers) - roll it out thinly, spread with marmite/ketchup and sprinkle with cheese. Roll up in a roll, slice into whirls and bake, again good for lunch boxes.

Or, spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and roll as above.

I just sprikle the flat piece of pastry with cheese and roll into a swiss roll, cut into thin slices and bake to make little pinwheels, not exactly nutritious but the kids love them and they disappear in minutes.

Roll it out, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on it, roll it up and cut into 'whilrs'.

Roll it out, cover with apple slices, sprinkle with sugar - bake, and then cut into 'portion sizes'.

Roll out, cut into squares, put cheese and raw onion into a triangular half, fold the other half over. Bake. Cheese and onion pasties - yummy!

By the way If I make veggie pies what is a good sauce to use - something nice and creamy!;)

I like the sound of the sugar and cinnamon - you're doing my diet no good at all!:p :D
