Cheese Straws????
Roll out very thin, sprinkle with grated cheese, fold twice to make it 1/3 size with two layers of cheese in it, egg the top, sprinkle with a little grated cheese - Cut into fingers about 1/2 wide and bake off at about gas 6/ 180 for 20 minutes or so - luvverly!!The quicker you fall behind, the longer you have to catch up...0 -
we used to cut the pastry into small rectangles , bake in the oven and have with mince, or you could do the same and split into layers and fill with jam and cream or you could do pinwheel puffs, mix 4tbsps tomato relish with 1 tin tuna and season spread to within 1/4inch of edge of rectangle of pastry and sprinkle over grated cheese, press filling down a bit then roll up from short end like a swiss roll, seal join with water, cut in 10 equal slices, flatten slightly and put on a greased tray, bake 25 min @ 190c, you could do this with a jar of mincemeat too0

r.mac wrote:just wondered - if defrosting pastry to make a pie or pasty is it possible to refreeze uncooked as it would be refreezing the pastry?????
Once you have defrosted something that previously hasnt been cooked, you can/should only re freeze if you have cooked it. So if you make 2 pies, you could eat one and freeze the other. Im not sure what would happen if you re froze the uncooked pastry, but i would guess it would either be dodgy to eat, or would effect the taste!!??0 -
I like to put cheese and onion in mine and use them for lunches, if they last that long as they taste fab sraight out of the oven.
Fill with ratoutille, anything really.
Baked beans and sausages.

I think refreezing pastry is fine, its meat you need to worry about.Pawpurrs x0 -

we roll ours out thinly then spread with wholegrain mustard (or even yellow american mustard) and cheese then roll up, lightly brush with butter or roll in poppy or sesame seeds and perhaps more cheese and bake until golden, heavenly and great for guests or at christmasfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0
