How about a sausage plait?
Get some sausage meat and mix it with, tomatoe puree, finely chopped onions and some sliced mushrooms. Also you can add mustard etc to taste, season and then add breadcrumbs and an egg yolk. Make sure everything is mixed. Roll out the pastry and just make a giant sausage roll. Slit along the top and brush with the egg white. Whack in the over for about 40 mins at about 190 - Easy!Lydia

In the end I have made some apple turnovers, some of the cheesy whirls and some of the cinnamon and sugar whirls - just tested one fresh out of the oven and they are to die for!
I still have yet more pastry in the freezer and fancy some veggie pies next time, any ideas as to what to put in? and the sauce for it?Do what you love :happyhear0 -
for a veggie pie you have 3 kind of choices. A mediterranean style one with a spicy tomato sauce with clurgettes, mush, aubergine, onions
A creamy mushroom and leek & cheese style one
or a root veg one, pots, snips, swede, carrots, gravy ( like a roast dinner pie, minus the meat!)
yuuuuummmmm i love pies:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
You could make curry puffs, like a small cornish pasty, we like a potato and pea curry filling. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I used to make a tuna pie. Just mixed a tin of tuna with some red onion and a beaten egg and used it as a filling. Quick and Easy.0

I find the jusrol site has some v good ideas - I've tested out out a number of these recently when I accidentally defrosted my freezer and had to use up a pack of puff pastry and a pack of shortcrust! - I recommend the courgettes and goats cheese rustic tarts, the salmon and basil turnovers, and the quick tomato puffs (v easy - just small circles of puff pastry topped with pesto and half a tomato stuck on top, round side down - my kids' favourites) - see

Also Delia's spinach and feta, and basil and tomato galettes are good too. See

Also, like the apple tarts, peach tart (peach sliced on rectangle of puff pastry, sprinkled with sugar and cooked till pastry crisp and sugar caramelised) was v popular.
Actually, I got so inspired shall definitely do more. Must try some ideas on here eg palmiers and cinammon whirl things. Sound lovely!0 -
I usually roll out any leftover pastry, spread it with lemon curd, roll it up and bake it.
Gorgeous - hubby and I fight over it. Tried doing jam roly poly, but it doesn't have the same X-factor as lemon curd."carpe that diem"0
