Thank you SmlSave, I have three peculiar looking fruit pasties cooking as I type. Didn't use sugar as the berries are usually fine without when just defrosted. I suspect there will be lots of leakage
The cheesy thing sounds simple and interesting. I may attempt a tomato free pizza tomorrow as husband is allergic to tomato but misses pizza . I wouldn't have thought of using pastry like that.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
roll out, cut into squares, place some cheddar in the centre on the diagonal and 1 slice of streaky bacon (cut in half) on top bring one corner of pastry to the centre, wet with milk and fold the opposite corner in to the centre on top.... bake until pastry is cooked (20-25 mins) and you have cheese in bacon turnovers!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500

Hi
If you take a rolled out piece of puff pastry, use a knife to score an edge around the pastry, about 1cm from the edge. You can then treat it abit like a pizza, I like it smeared with pesto & then very thinnly sliced tomoatoes but don't put anything on the scored edge.
Bake in a hot oven.
The scored edge will puff up.

my sis used to make something which resembled a Jersey Slice (I think it was called that. roll out a rectangle which is about 8 inches wide, and not too long for your baking sheet. cut it in half so you get two long strips. on one strip stab it with a fork all over, on the other glaze with egg wash and sprinkle sugar over. bake until the sugared one is well risen and golden. let them cool. cover the stabbed one with a nice jam of your choice then spread with firmly whipped cream. top with the other strip of pastry.0
