mmm ok then lets try File/New/Folder call it MyOld and the location within your mail inbox
Now right click local folders select settings, the on the server line you will have a Local Directory paste the location into Notepad and save it
then put in the F:\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail\Local Folders (use the Browse Button)

    Close TB and restart
this will give us the local folders on the pen drive
Copy this lot within the MyOld folder above
The return the Local Directory setting from the notpad ones above (use The Browse Button)
    Close and restart TB
Sorry just getting back to you now. Ok what have I done, opened up TB that I previously installed on new laptop, created 2 new folders on it ie MyOld & Pendrive - F:\ThunderbirdPortable\Data\profile\Mail\Local Folders is now shown as settings on it but it doesn't seemed to have transferred the emails from the pendrive to it?
  • That was a long bevvy ;) ok what You have tried was not quite what I said

Just the one, ie 02 email. The ones on pen drive are from a different ISP (tiscali)

There should be two like this
    < O2 Mail
    Server Settings
    Copies and folders
    Composition
    .....
    .....
    < Local Folders
    Junk Settings
    Disc SPace

    Outgoing Server (SMTP)
