Can I move emails from Microsoft Office to Outlook Express on a new laptop?

Options
Hello

I've a new laptop and it has Outlook Express which I dont really like :( Anyway can you transfer emails from Microsoft Outlook to Outlook Express?

Have emails that I don't want to lose and not sure what to do. Maybe I should purchase Microsoft Office (if it's not too expensive lol)

Unfortunate it will be expensive, since (for example) Office 2007 Home and Student doesn't include Outlook 2007.

Maybe you'll have to bite the Outlook Express bullet?

Later... This article may be a start.

Thanks John. Can I copy Microsoft Outlook / Microsoft Word etc from one pc to another? Maybe that aint an option either?

May have to export from Microsoft Outlook to Outlook Express :-( The old pc is Microsoft Outlook 2003
  • Check your EULA I think that the Standard Office one allows you to use it on a laptop and desktop . I would also recommend Thunderdird as an alternative

Interesting. I am just buying a new desktop with a copy of Office Basic on it, for which I will obviously have to pay for the licence.

I already have a laptop, which came with Office Basic pre-installed. Does this mean I might be able to use that licence key on my new desktop and save several quid?

Second that, Thunderbird, is quicker, better, more reliable, more secure and free!

Just downloaded Thunderbird and it seems much better than outlook express so thanks for this :-) does it have a junk folder?

Trying to find a way to sort the columns, ie from first, then subject, will get there. Just a pity I can't move my emails from Microsoft Outlook on the old pc to this laptop. I have emails on it I'd like to keep - so not sure what I'll do!
  • I think it prefilters for you, but the spam checking should really be done by your ISP.
  • Select Account settings there is a Junk settings line on there.
copy the pst file from the old pc and import from there
