If you have Office 2003 on the old machine, I assume you have the discs ....why not just install it on your new laptop ?

Whn I click on the pst file it says - windows cannot open this file and it says - use the web service to find the appropriate program - or select the program from a list - can't see outlook anywhere?

yes no problem , is the old pc wired ethernet to your router you could set up sharing, but then again putting the tb download on a pen will be quicker;)
Ok have saved to the pen drive and installed it on old laptop - now its saying to put in email address and incoming, outgoing servers etc but I won't be able to go online as I cant with the old laptop?

Ok I downloaded Thunderbird Portable to the pen drive and imported the emails from old pc. Now have them on my new laptop via the pen drive - I originally downloaded TB on the new laptop - can I now import these emails on the pen drive to TB?
