How do I copy the pst file? Where do I find it? (who's embarrassed lol)
Err, you could do a Search for *.PST (showing hidden folders)!

    Mine is in
    C:\Documents and Settings\<MyUserName>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
but as always the PST name may vary, and the MyUserName is your own!

You may have to Show Hidden Folders to find it..

Well I done this and can't find the .pst file - have ticked the hidden folders option - all is there is Office Data Files - ie archive, backup and outlook - when i right clicked on outlook and send to my pen drive it said cannot copy outlook - the process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file :(

Great, thanks for this, have managed to copy over the .pst file :-) However, I can't import it into Thunderbird as it only seems to import from Outlook. So I've opened Outlook Express and trying to import the file there but it won't allow me to select the file? When I click 'browse' to find the file it only shows me folders to open and no actually files in the folders? I then copied it to my desktop and tried importing it from there, but when I click 'browse' again it just brings up desktop but doesn't show any files in it?

In Outlook Express I've clicked import / messages/ then when I select Microsoft Outlook it says messages cannot be imported from the MAPI client? Should I be selecting another program to import from?
  • :hello: Sunshine , ok lets try another tack, install TB on your old PC (where Outlook is) and see if you can import them in to it there. From there we should be able to copy them to the lappy.

yes no problem , is the old pc wired ethernet to your router you could set up sharing, but then again putting the tb download on a pen will be quicker;)
