I have also done all the searching that anyone could possibly ask of.. You have the most unhelpful and irritating poster i have ever come across. You prejudge and come to wrong conclusion. As a parent one comes on here to seek help/advice, you have added nothing to the discussion. I do wonder what experience you have of being a parent of a 17 year old, just starting out in his driving life,
I was sterilised in my 20s, so clearly I've maintained a few more braincells.
However, having bought my first car at 17 with money that I earned for myself, organised and paid for insurance (my own money again), I'd expect that any child of mine was a bit more independent and could cope without a big blanket of parental cotton wool
Congratulations on the 2 useful posts though (from your thanks count). I guess I could learn something from that :whistle:I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

dacouch, you sound a bit of an idiot, why do you go on about forum etiquette and mentioning Quinn Direct, when it was already stated by me as being one of the cheapest.(are you tied up with them) Both you and your friend who has just posted that silly picture have a thing about FRONTING. I don't like pompous sounding people, there are plenty of insurance brokers , i can talk to about hints to save money.0

Goodbye iamana1ias, i will not respond to anymore of your trivial postings. I see that you have written 1089 postings since July 2009, you have plenty of time on your hands. I on the other hand have a wife and 3 boys to share my life with, so i will leave you to it, happy posting!!!0

That is surely the pot calling the kettle black.
I also do not like pompous sounding people which is why I C.B.A to give you any advice on reducing the costs. Although I could recommend you try Swintons who are a broker and also budget (This advice is solely for PCconstable not other MSE users).0 -

In his own name, with comprehensive, the lowest quote is £2600 from Quinn Direct, which my insurance, Churchill will match. I have tried all the comparison sites, as well as others and can not find lower. I have tried with me (dad) being the main driver and my son as the named driver but as , i believe i am not able to put my NCD on, i have not been able to reduce. With my wife as main driver, Quinn will do it for £1968. I don't think it is to be found cheaper, but if there are any Dads out there who have just got insurance for their son, please post. With respect i don't want to hear from people who arranged years ago (that will be out of date) or from people who arranged insurance for their daughter. (they are just cheaper) Just want to hear experiences for 17 year old sons. I am aware of the "fronting" non legality. I guess the reality will be to pay up the £2600 and at least get the NCD working for him, providing that there will be no claims. Am i right in saying that MY NCD is for use ONLY on my own car and that when filling in the forms, for when i am the main driver, i have to put NO years for NCD.
I would say there are four main ways you can reduce the premium...
1. Son as main driver, and then try adding yourself and/or wife as named drivers (try combinations of both as named drivers, and individually).
2. Rather than buying a 2008, get a 2009. It will cost more, but believe it or not the premium with probably be less (up to several hundred £)!!
3. Do 1 and 2 together.
4. Get an old banger, follow step 1 and go third party or TPFT.0 -
