As for Swinton, i did them, i think, thought they put me onto Tiger, who came up with the cheapest for the fiesta as being Endersleigh (or something like that) whose quote was £3700, it gets a bit foggy after a time of spending soooo much tiime spent on this ..............0

Shame the fruit of your loins isn't able to take some responsibility and sort it out himself, isn't it?I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair0 -

1. Son as main driver, and then try adding yourself and/or wife as named drivers (try combinations of both as named drivers, and individually).
2. Rather than buying a 2008, get a 2009. It will cost more, but believe it or not the premium with probably be less (up to several hundred £)!!
3. Do 1 and 2 together.
4. Get an old banger, follow step 1 and go third party or TPFT.
I take it this is model specific as I can't see a reason for a 2009 car being generally cheaper to insure than a 2008 car!0 -

However, having bought my first car at 17 with money that I earned for myself, organised and paid for insurance (my own money again), I'd expect that any child of mine was a bit more independent and could cope without a big blanket of parental cotton wool
Congratulations on the 2 useful posts though (from your thanks count). I guess I could learn something from that
And also, £5000 on a fiesta? You could get a nice secondhand BMW or Jag for that money! Although granted you won't be able to insure it at 17, so get a £1000 cheap car for 3-5 years, then buy yourself the BMW which you'll now be able to insure with the 3 year NCB you now have.0 -

So he should spend £1000+ more to get a 2009 model, just to save £200 on insurance (IF LUCKY)???
And step 4, in most instances now a days fully comp is cheaper than TPFT.0 -
I'd have to agree with you there. Note how I'm 18 and have not bought myself a stupidly expensive car, have one of the cheapest insurance policies for an 18 year old male on here, sorted it all myself and did not feel the need to start yet another insurance thread.

I'm not sure the OP will appreciate you posting this on HIS thread, you can only post if he likes you or agrees with your post...
P.S Well done on your consumer skills and searching abilities0 -

Why thank you dacouch. Wasn't saying that for gratification, just to make the point.0 -

The saving can be more than £200. An astra 2009 plate costs £600+ less fully comp for me to insure than a 2008. For exactly the same car, engine and trim level. Yes, it costs several thousand more to buy but you have to consider when you might sell it and how much it will depreciate and the extra warranty.
I would imagine a number of factors are taken into consideration, including your age, the car, driving experience and risk postcode.0
