It can take a while shelley, I've had one that was over in 3 days and one that lasted nearly a week. The really bad pain doesnt tend to last more than 1-2 days though. Do make sure you have plenty of painkillers in ibuprofen and paracetamol or co-codamol. So sorry for your loss x0

Hi All,
Just came on to give my best wishes to you all, and offer any support I can.
Shelley - I found mine lasted about 4 days, with one day of most of the tissue loss. Don't feel like you have to suffer though, if the pain gets too bad, and painkillers arent touching it, go to a&e.
My other suggestion is a shower. I spent 4 hours in the shower on the bad day, ours was over the bath, and they do tell you not to sit in the bath for risk of infection but the water definitely helped me, so I sat on the floor of the shower, and would lay on my back so it massaged my abdomen, or on all fours so it hit my lower back.
I also used ibruprofen gel as a massage rub and dh rubbed that into my tummy for me, hot milk with a bit of sugar helped me relax a bit more physically, and I dozed on and off for the bad day for about 2 hours.
I hope some of that helps you, and my heart goes out to you xxWealth is not measured by currency0 -
Thank you Merfe and CACF Girl. I'm finding it comes over me waves. I've been ok for the last few hrs now and I haven't passed any tissue at all its just like a period. It seems very inconsistent at the momentLittle Miss Chatterbox

Thinking of you Shelley xx My first mc was about a week from start to finish, the 2nd about 10 days. With the first one, the majority of pain & tissue loss was all on one day (I remember being on all fours in the lounge watching Strictly Come Dancing, it was the only way I could get comfortable
) The second one was more drawn out but not as painful as I was not as far along. Just as hideous, but at least I knew what to expect.
As Merfe said, get in plenty of painkillers, they do help.
Hugs to you too GFH xxxx0 -
Thanks for the hugs, guys. And so sorry to hear your news, Shelley.
Anyone who has had ERPC, did you have to have time off work, and if so, how much? Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -
GFH - I didnt have intervention, but I had two weeks off work, and physically I was fine to go back, and needed something else to do, but emotionally I wish I had taken off longer.Wealth is not measured by currency0

GFH
posted this on the other thread but wasn't sure of you were lurking on there
wanted to say how sorry I am GFH, I wish there was something I could say that would make you feel better but know from experience that it doesn't happen like that. take care of yourself, lots of rest and relaxation and there is no right or wrong time for when you should 'rejoin' the real world, its just whenever you feel mentally (and physically ready),

as for pain and bleeding. with my first mmc I had an ERPC, the nurses were lovely, gave me a private room on the day surgery ward and just left me and my husband alone (but were on hand if I needed them). I was first on the list which I think was great as I didn't have to sit and wait amd I was gone 1hr 30 min according to my OH but I think it was that long as I had trouble waking up. I had 2 weeks off work, I had pain and heavy bleeding afterwards which lasted 4/5 days (although tailed off towards the end) so wasn't physically able to leave the house as another lady said, I wish I had longer off work as I wasn't mentally ready to go back and took me quite a while to recover.
my second mmc I opted to let things happen naturally as I thought the ERPC was a shock to my body and was why I had hard time dealing with it afterwards. the bleeding was like a period for 5 days with pain/cramping gradually getting worse as the days went on, I passed the baby and tissue in the afternoon on day 6. I was off work for 2 weeks again but only because I felt guilty about being off work.
sorry to Shelley and GFH and any others that are going through this and apologies for the long post. wanted to respond as I have experience of natural and ERPC, I hope this helps.
