I don't know but I do think sometimes drs leap to thyroid problems for tut cause of so many things.

After my mc I was paranoid I had something wrong with me - so I asked the dr after the op what she thought about my irregular periods.

She said it was likely because I was underweight, exercising too much or could have an over active thyroid.

No - I'm naturally thin, take after my Dad, I barely exercise at all and I got my thyroid tested and it was normal. Yet her comments made me feel paranoid about the thyroid thing (I knew she was talking rubbish about my weight it's not like I'm a closet anorexic or something).

I think for me irregular periods are just normal and my gp agreed with me & said there are probably more women with irregular than regular.

Obviously if you've had a test result back though and it's worried you in terms of the anti bodies as the other results are in the normal range, I don't see why you shouldn't talk to your dr.

Plus you could ask for a repeat thyroid test? I'm sure I was reading the other day that they can change? And like anything with a test result that worries you it can be a good idea to get it repeated.

Thankfully i had a repeat test as the hospital wanted to re-test my bloods as they changed something to do with the trial and my levels were slightly outside of what they needed..... results came back today (after i posted the original post above) and the levels have changed and it appears my thyroid is underactive now so going to go on levothyroxine. the midwife said consultant wants to see me and its very likely that's what caused the miscarriage before

LJ, as much as it is painful, I am glad that they have found something, and that something can be treated. *hugs*

AFM - we are still doing ok. I started pumping last night and have posted on the human milk 4 human babies UK page. I've also made an appointment to discuss coming off of or being switched on the anti-depressants. My ankles have started to swell, so DH is confining me to the sofa with my feet elevated for most of the day today. He's also give me loads of cuddles and rubbed my feet and legs. The emotions of expressing milk are nearly overwhelming because I don't have a little one to cuddle, but I know it will get better. Knowing that I could help another little one is definitely going to keep me going for as long as I can, but when it's time to stop, I will. I also have a horrid headache today, not quite migraine status, but bad. I've taken some paracetamol and I'm drinking loads more water than normal. Hopefully it's just my hormones trying to level out and it will be normalised in a day or two.

Sending huge hugs to every single person on this thread!

Indeed hun and i am glad for that - i don't ever want to have to go through mc again and if i know it's not guaranteed it won't happen again, at least knowing my thyroid isn't right and is going to get treated, it will give us the best possible chance.

Have you ever had your thyroid tested Mrs_T_M? if not, it might be something to try and get checked? if you have weight gain, feel tired, depressed, bad skin etc.... it's worth a shot to see what your levels are doing?

I am glad you are looking into donating your breast milk - that's a lovely thing to do - and if you can help someone else, i am sure that will give you a little comfort.

PLEASE take it easy though hun - try and stay off your feet and let your DH give you lots of cuddles - you both need them xxxx

LJ - I've had my thyroid tested three times in the past year, all have been exactly in the middle of the normal range. The last time I was tested was at 8 weeks pregnant. I've always been overweight since puberty hit. My body seems to stick at one weight, so I'm not worried about losing weight really, I'm more concerned with just making my body as healthy as possible. Every test, whether it be blood test or otherwise (except for fitness test) has always come out as excellent, so I must be doing something right. I'm only one point away from being in the 'good' fitness category, even though I'm twice the recommended weight for people my height!

I've just done what I could in Dale's baby book. All I need for it now is a photo of myself and DH and to print out the photo of how I told DH we were pregnant and the four weekly bump photos I took to add to it. Putting his little photos, hand prints, and foot prints in were extremely difficult for me. The sorrow isn't so much for what has happened, but for the future that can never be. I've also started writing in my journal.

On a bit of a happier note, DH just pulled a lamb roast out of the oven with roast potatoes and carrots and there is a loaf of Italian Parmigiano bread being made in the bread maker.

Mrs TM you really do amaze me. All I did after the mc was sit on the couch and eat bags of Mistrels and ice cream. There you are making bread! :)

Thats awfully sad but I think its a great idea. As my friend said to me - just because you had a mc does't mean that baby wont always be your first ever baby.

Different people grieve different ways. For me, I absolutely MUST stay busy. Plus all I really did for the bread was dump stuff into the bread maker.

One of the lines that I've written in today's journal entry is 'We want to try for another baby as soon as we can, but not as a replacement for Dale. He was and is our baby, our first-born, and he always will be.'

When we do have more babies, I want each of them to have a baby book the same kind as Dales, it's the one that's based on the 'Guess how much I love you' book.
